Crossing Lake Okeechobee.
March 30 Day 23 Clewiston to Indiantown 36 miles traveled

Rick and Wayne are very efficient sailors. We started the day by sailing directly across Lake Okeechobee. It is 24 miles across the lake and we sailed the whole way. With 15-20 mph wind on the beam it took 4.5 hours to make the crossing. We called Indiantown Marina to request to be hauled out tomorrow, Wednesday morning. They told us that they couldn’t get to us until Thursday unless we could be there by 3:00 PM today. We had to motor 10 miles down the St. Lucia Canel after leaving the Lake. We made it to Indiantown at 2:45. Amber Lee was sitting on the trailer by 3:30. We transferred a ton of stuff from the boat to the truck. We had the mast lowered and were partaking of our evening beer by 6:30. We will sleep on the boat on the hard tonight and hit the road tomorrow. We should be home by Easter.

Our only regret we had was that we missed watching a sailboat with a 52 foot mast going under a 49 foot railroad bridge. We met the couple on the sailboat in Clewiston.

Yes we did fit under the lift bridge.
They told us how they were going to squeeze under the bridge. They had contacted a fellow who would place a number of barrels on one side of the boat and fill them with water. That would cause the boat to heal until the mast would fit under the bridge. The couple on the sail boat never showed up in Indiantown. We hope they aren’t stuck under the bridge.

Our other regret is that this sailing adventure is over. It has been a good trip, but it is time to get home to our loved ones. We will let everyone know how the road trip went when we get home.

We really enjoy your blogs. . .
and get to travel vicariously with you. Wishing you a safe road trip home. Maybe we should take some lessons on packing light - - - have spent a good deal of 2 days packing for the trip home. Course we do occupy more space than you do. The owners of the house are to be here around 8 to inspect the place and we'll sign the contract with them for next year. Hope we're on the road no later than 9. Sending lv and hugs.

Know the r.r bridge well
We were about one foot too big for the bridge. We called for help from the people with the barrels but they didn't show up. We had to do it ourselves. I took some time, and with one of us on the shore at the bridge we made it. The problem was, when the person pulled on the mast top from shore, of course, the boat wanted to follow. Welcome back, Larry
