We treated Monday as our "last night" in Pine Island --- What a time - we decided on Woody's for dinner. It's on one of the major Pine Island canals and features Zydeco night on Mondays. We are a couple, now in our early 70's, traveling in a 34" Holiday Vacationer Motor Home. Wes is a GE pensioner who just ended a 50 + year career, most recently consulting with the company. Joanne is a Public Relations specialist who runs her own "boutique" agency. Fall of 2015 began our 13th year keeping this travel blog. In the winter, we travel to and through Florida. Yes, those are dollar bills decorating the walls.

Cabbage Key Water Tower

This water tower is about the only surviving water tower in the Cabbage Key Island area - most have been obliterated by tropical storms. Nice climb to the top and great view.

Tim and his gear

We met Tim while waiting for the water taxi. He is from Long Island, lived a while near SugarBush, Vt., and is spending the winter at a friend's house in North Captiva Island. His gear reminded us of how we pack for boat camping on Lake George - Bananas, Cheezits, etc. He was a great find and took us all around North Captiva - to beaches we would have never seen - in his golf cart. No cars allowed on North Captiva Island.

Cabbage is an historic private island with an inn, restaurant and several properties for rent.

This is what we missed!

Larry took this photo of the ice storm aftermath. Terrible storm - power outages all over the Capital Region. Most seem restored after three or four days; but some are still struggling and many schools are still closed.
