Key Biscayne
getting cooked at the beach Welcome to Miami, Bienvenido a Miami...
If there is a part of the USA that has been colonized and taken over by Latin America, that is Miami.
People in the street will even speak a mixture of Spanish and English, all tangled together in the same sentence, quite difficult to follow even.
So Miami was pretty much the perfect pre-view to our one month break from travelling back in Colombia.
It was quite an intense week filled with lots of food, drinks, friends, beach, party and not enough sleep.
The first few days were relaxing enough, staying at Juan & Patri's apartment (my uncle and aunt) in Coral Gables. We enjoyed the sleep, the swimming pool and the gym to catch up with a bit of fitness. We also met up with my cousin Diego and his wife Valentina for some delicious sushi at their place and went out with all for some great sea food too.
Then it was the turn for our Colombian friends to descend on Miami. Soraya and her sister Sandra, Ivan and Ivan (Trujillo and Villegas) all arrived from different parts of the US for a non stop long weekend. They were all staying at Diana's
(a friend of Soraya) apartment, so it became our base of operations and pre and post party location. We also got together with Jairo and Diego (Lorena's cousins) and went out with them to a Colombian night club (where the concentration of silicone per square metre was off the scale) and a traditional Colombia themed restaurant with live acts where we had a great time.
We spent the whole four days just eating Colombian food, partying and going to the beaches to enjoy the sun, we had a great time and it was really good to see our old friends all together again after so many years.
On our last day we went to visit my cousin Veronica and Marcel her husband at their place for a while, and then said bye to our friends who were leaving. At night we stayed up late playing cards with Juan, Patri and some friends of theirs before packing our bags at about 3 in the morning and getting up at 6:30am to get to the airport to go to Colombia.
So by the time we got to Colombia, we had already satisfied our cravings for Colombian food and drinks in Miami. Patacon,
