Blog 02-02-17 Leisure day then the Horses
Thursday was a beautiful day with bright sun and warm temps. We walked in the morning and took Watson to the dog park to play and get him tired out because we were going out for the afternoon.
We were alone in the dog park for a while til another family came with their fun loving dog. This dog was a decedent of an old breed dog that used to hunt lions in Egypt. Smaller than you would think for such a job. He was about 35 lbs so not too big and tried to get Watson to run with him. Watson was playing with a disgusting stuffed toy he found there at the park and when the other dog snatched the toy away the race was on. They ran around the park til they were both breathless and headed for the water bowls. It was a great time.
We had a quick lunch then headed out with Ginnie, Kat and Kim in another car to see the Lipizzaner Stallions. I thought it was a 1 hour drive but turned out to be 2 1/4 hrs to the farm south of
Sarasota. We finally made it and were able to see the show. This is the winter home for these Stallions and practice is open to the public 3 days a week. It was wonderful seeing these beautiful animals perform.
Watson sure was happy to see us and we took him for a nice walk then dinner.
Friday we had to get up early 5:45 to pack up and take the camper to a local dealer to repair the cooked batteries. We were in Lakeland at 7:50 am, dropped the camper and walked to McDonalds for breakfast. We had an egg mcmuffin and ate outside because we had the dog with us. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed our meal and coffee in the rising sun. Back at the dealer we waited only 20 more minutes til they were finished making repairs and we were back on the road. What a pleasant experience. The camper got 2 new batteries, a new propane detector and an adjustment on the couch/bed, all on PleasureWay. Thank you very much. I will send the dealership and Pleasureway thank you letters. So the camper is back in one piece and we are
safe from lethal gasses.
Back at the campground we settled in again, rested a little and waited for my cousin Dave and his wife Nancy to come for a visit. They are from Indiana and here in Florida enjoying the warmth for a few weeks. We had a great visit, went out to dinner and had fun catching up on our families.
Saturday we slept in a little, had our long walk then took Watson back to the dog park. He ran around a little chasing the disgusting stuffed toy then we went to the lake and sat on the dock for little while. I spotted a wood stork in a tree and snapped it's picture.
Saturday night in the park is a big deal. The food trucks are in the parking lot from 5pm til 8 and at 7 there was a show that featured a Neil Diamond impersonator. If you didn't look at him you could almost believe Neil was in the house. He was really good and got the crowd going after the second song. It was fun to sing along and clap and hoot and holler.
Back at camp we settled in
for a good sleep as we have to move tomorrow. We are going to Flagler Beach for 2 weeks next to the ocean. Can't wait.
