Sea World Day
We decided to meet at 9 am and head to Sea World for a few hours. You can buy a daily ticket plus $8. And get unlimited access to Sea World for a year. Sounded like a deal to me so after buying my ticket Kat, Ginnie and I headed out to the Pet’s Ahoy! Show . We took our time getting there seeing all kinds of bird exhibits and just the magic that is the world they have created.
It was a hot morning, in the 80’s already and we planned to only spend a few hours as we all had to get back to let our dogs out, and we could go back anytime to see more. It took about 30 min to get there and already the parking lot was about 1/3 full.
I was fascinated with all the beautiful flowers and the buildings that looked like old stone buildings. There was a hedge of gardenias that were blooming and the smell was intoxicating. I had to stick my nose in the flowers every time we passed.
The show was a riot. There was a rat, several dogs and
cats, a pig, birds and several talented trainers. All of the animals were rescued from the local shelters and were trained better than circus animals. They ran across the stage doing their particular part for the show, in one door, out another, walking on wires, flying from one spot to the next all done with a story that had great imagination. There was a 2 yr old in the row in front of us who clapped and squealed as much as I did. They even had a box full of dachounds that ran across the stage in flight from a cat.
Then we went to the shark tank and saw black tips, white tips, saw tooth and nurse sharks. We walked through a tube with the fish swimming all around us on a slowly moving walkway. It was an interesting experience. We passed the dolphin encounter area and watched for a short while then it was time to head home.
We stopped at a pizza place that has a pizza all you can eat buffet, never saw anything like that before. There were 12 or15 different toppings to choose from, they even had apple pie pizza for dessert.
My favorite was pineapple with ham, really good.
I got home, let the dog out and settled in my lounge chair to read my book, something I have been neglecting. The weather was cloudy, and rain was in the forecast so I stayed out for a while then took Oscar for a walk to the lake. When I got there I heard an owl hooting, then another on the other side of the lake. I was hoping to get a look at them and as I was standing on the dock one flew by and disappeared in the woods, then hooted. It was a terrific encounter even if I didn’t get a picture. Think they were great horned owls.
Then on the way home there was a little snake on the road that was new to me. I had to look him up. I think it was a dusky pigmy rattlesnake. Hard to identify.
As we got 2 campsites away from home the heavens opened up. Oscar and I ran the last few steps and made in before we were soaked. This is the second time it has rained since I’ve been in FL and I sure
hope it cools things off. I know, shut up!
I had leftovers for dinner, wrote my blog and watched a little tv. Great day!
