Bleak
The bleak highway near Grand Lake CO - The Land Of Never Summer July 28
Lobelia woke up first in the Land of Never Summer. 'We need to leave this land of never summer,' she thought. Looking up at the hill, she saw a black blob. 'That looks just like a moose'. It WAS a moose.
After the moose excitement, Podo and Lobelia packed up and got out of that cold rainy place. They went up north a bit and hiked up to a meadow on Green Mountain and then a little further North to hike hear the Colorado River.
They then drove toward Vail, hoping to find a good campsite and rest. (Uncle Arvid didn't answer the phone, by the way). They drove to Avon to look for a WIFI hot spot so they could get directions to the campgrounds (Vail is crazy land!). It turned out that the trail they hoped to hike was indeed West of Vail, but by about 50 miles. A campground was found near (again, a relative term) Eagle, so they took off to the south. They drove and drove and drove. This was becoming a bad idea. Finally, they got to the kiosk where the park permits are sold. They heard "yahoos" through the
Moon
Moon over the compground in the land of never... well you get the picture trees. It was again cold, and they faced a wet tent and a night in a cold campground, surrounded by persons of unknown moral character. They came to a unanimous decision: They would go back and look for a Comfort Inn.
