With all of our spare time out here, we decided to spend some time camping in nearby Rocky Mountain National Park. The park is about 45 minutes from Boulder, but it feels so much more remote. We stayed at an amazing campsite in a glacial valley, with views of snow covered peaks on two sides of us. We are definitely planning on returning to the park soon.

This glacial lake was still covered in ice, and the trail up had about 3 feet of snow on it. Really nice scenery, even if we were up in the clouds.

The park was full of herds of elk. We saw a few by the road on the way in and were surprised at how big they were. Our campsite overlooked a field absolutely teeming with elk. The most common animal we saw our whole stay.

This was one of the snow covered ranges we could see from our campground. Just amazing.
