Mesa Verde National Park
The amazing village built into a cliff in Mesa Verde National Park Another early start today, we got ready and packed the trailer to head off. Drove most of the day and arrived in Mesa Verde National Park late in the afternoon, None of us knew what to expect in this National Park, we’d never heard of it before. We walked along the trail down a hill until we reached a lookout point. From here we could see a large valley and in the valley walls a small city made out of stone had been built into the cliff. It didn’t look real from the view up on the lookout point it was a spectacular sight. We waited here until the tour guide came, we had just made it for the last tour of the day. She took us down ladders to the stone city and we sat while she explained the history of this amazing place. We continued on walking through the small city, stopping frequently for photos and information from the tour guide. The way back up was a lot harder, we climbed up flimsy ladders made of wood which went up the cliff face. But we all made it in one piece.
We got back in the van and

On our guided tour through the village headed for a museum which overlooked another smaller city made from stone. We had a brief look around the museum which was full of old artifacts and tools found and used to create the cities. After a quick look in the gift shop we made our way down the windy road towards the stone city. In this tiny city there were ceremonial pits which were completely intact, we climbed down the ladder into a dark room which was used for religious rituals. After taking some photos and fooling around in the city we made our way back up the windy road to the van. For some unknown reason Dave and I decided to sprint up and by the time we made it back up we were stuffed. We made for the van and headed to our next campsite.
Jon had been telling us that for the last couple of weeks on the trek he had gotten in early and taken reserved the cabins. When we arrived at our campsite we were pleased to know that we had cabins, the other trek group didn’t. Our group split into three separate cabins located next to each other. The girls cooked dinner

A close up view during our guided tour and it was, in my opinion, one of the best campsite dinners yet, we had pork and mash. After dinner we had a group meeting to go over the next few days and any optional activities we may be interested in doing. Afterwards most of us did our laundry while we could then got out the booze and started drinking. Again most of the group went to sleep early but Dave, Jon and I stayed up and drank 2 large bottles of whiskey between us. We were totally gone, Dave and Jon argued for hour’s weather Wal-Mart or Tesco’s was better. As we finally made it into our cabin, we woke Ben up and starting singing to him, I got in my sleeping bag and passed out straight away.
