Day 1 Day 1 May 4th Concord,CA to Benicia,CA (27.0mi.)

Got a late start today while working on last minute adjustments and getting last minute supplies for Tris. We were finally underway at around 1pm and rode from Tris' mom's house to the BART Station nearby. We then todr it to San Francisco and began the ride to Baker Beach beyond the Golden gate Bridge so we could actually dip in the Pacific. We took a few pictures there and then rode back to where we came from to catch a ferry to Vellejo. We did a lot of urban riding today which eventually trailed off once we left the downtown area. We had the lovely aroma of cows for the duration of the ride to Benicio where we had a little trouble finding a place to bivy (sleep). We settled on a drainage near an ARCO and some train tracks. We hope to start riding earlier tommorow so the hunt for a bivy is underway with a little bit of daylight remaining. We had mellow mileage today and it was a great first day! Onward we go! And of course everyone is still tweaking their gear.
