What a trip! My flight got in early..just under 10 hours from Incheon International to San Francisco International. Not bad...I watched three movies and slept a little and before I knew it I was landing. Piece of advice. When you confirm your tickets online, request a low calorie meal. It is SO much tastier than what they normally bring you. I had fresh fruit and an omlette, whole grain bagels...plus I got my food before everyone else since it was "special order" and it didn't cost any extra. I'm doing that from here on out! It was sunny and bright out but as soon as I walked through the doors the cold and wind hit me. Not how I pictured this trip. My sundress and tanktops weren't going to be useful here. Chris wasn't getting in for another 12 hours so I was going to do some shopping and get things set up , get us some food, make some reservations. He called me later that night before he left from Jacksonville. About an hour later he called me again. "we had to make an emergency landing in South Carolina, there's a storm over Atlanta." and boy was there a storm! Tornados high winds, and it seemed to be sitting over the city, it wasn't moving! My poor husband was stuck sitting in the airport all night. Eventually, early into the morning he finally landed in Atlanta. Then he had to wait for a few more hours to fly from Atlanta to San Fran to meet me. He was suppoed to arrive at 9pm on Friday...he arrived at noon on Saturday. It doesn't seem that much longer, but for him sitting alone on the floor of an airport, and me sittting alone in San Fran...it was horrible! But none of it mattered once he landed.
He called me when they landed and I explained to him how ti get to the hotel and what room number we were in. The dork actually believed I wouldn't have met him at the gate...psht! Of course I met him there! While waiting I met a really nice lady named Jenny. We got to talking and she was saying how a friend of hers is going to Afghanistan and her brother was a Marine...(i knwo what you're thinking..and yes i have a way of meeting people like this all the time) She ended up inviting us to Easter Dinner and telling us which places were the best to go on wine tours. She was so nice! (We didn't end up going to dinner, I was so sick...) But it's always nice to meet someone like that. Gives you faith in people again :)
We headed right out to get some drinks and snacks for the next few days. We got lost a little but it was o.k. we were just walking along making fun of each other, laughing and enjoying our time. The next morning I woke up...sick as a dog! Runny nose, sore throat, couldn't breathe, cough...and Sunday night I had a terrible fever. I haven't had a fever in...I don't know since when! How miserable. But thats when you know its love. Cause it didn't matter that I was sick. We had SO much fun together. We didn't even do much. Watched a movie, went out to eat, got lost in the city. Mostly just walking around hanging out with each other and talking about things, and life and school, and dreams and everything. I laughed more in those four days than i have in the past 2 months. We were both going to go and get our tattoos. I've had mine planned out forever...and when I told them what I wanted they replied "oh we can't do it in brown, you can have the letters that small, and we can't do the writing" So...EVERYTHING that made my tattoo unique, I couldn't have haha So that killed that idea. Iw anted chris to go get his anyways...but with me being sick I would have died going that far from the hotel.
Good-bye's are never easy, no matter how many times you go through them, they always feel the same. After such a great weekend, its so hard to say good-bye to your best friend. Especially when the good-bye is for almost a year. But, its all about holding on to weekends like this to get you through the months when you're apart :-D
