The Boy and The Girl arrive in The City.
After a 5 hour flight with less than 12 inches of leg room, people begin to have fantasies of a better place. That place is the west coast of the United States. Marce and I have just arrived and already it feels like a perfect fit. We picked up our trusty steed, Aveo, and took off toward downtown San Francisco, where we immediately proceeded to get lost. Apparently GPS only works when you give it the right street names - and in case anyone is interested, Polk St. and Post St. are in fact, two very different arteries through

The City

. It only took us about 5 minutes of fussing with Microsoft Streets & Trips and a phone call to figure that one out!

After arriving at the Andrews Hotel, we stepped out for a bite at the corner deli, The Crepe House. The food there was absolutely delicious, though admittedly pricey. Over brunch we discussed our plans for the trip but kept interrupting each other with comments about how right being on the west coast felt. is someone or some group working to conserve natural resources or promote environmental awareness. Even at the airport, the bathrooms had signs on the paper towel dispensers that said, "Please help to conserve our natural resources - take only what you need." During our descent, I counted no less than several hundred wind turbines producing clean, renewable energy to meet Southern California's needs.

We still don't know if

The City

is the place for us, but after a 3 hour nap and a wonderful Italian dinner at La Belle Venezia we're ready to call it a night. But, fret not, for tomorrow we'll be visiting Google and Apple headquarters in Mountain View and Cupertino, respectively. There's no doubt that we will have stories to share after those tours - and if all goes well, job offers may be forthcoming! As always, stay tuned for more...
