San Fransisco
The incredible Golden Gate Bridge in San Fransisco Another early start today, we're getting used to them now. We made breakfast, got ready and packed our tents up, ready for our next stop, San Francisco. My legs were still very sore, but there was no time for complaining about it now. We first drove to the Yosemite National Park visitors centre and waited 10 minutes until it opened. We had a quick look around some of the stores nearby for souvenirs then went back to the van to leave. We soon stopped at the Yosemite National Park sign and got some photos with the group then got back in the van for the drive to San Francisco. Most of the way we were playing card games or sleeping from the massive day we had yesterday. We arrived in San Francisco and went straight to the visitor's centre to pick up maps and leaflets of the city then continued on, driving across the Golden Gate Bridge. I couldn't believe I was in San Francisco, on this famous bridge I’d seen so many times before on television. Jon was taking us to a good lookout point so we could take some photos of the bridge and the city. We got there

Group photo at the Yosemite National Park sign and it was amazing, the view was just incredible, seeing the bridge with the city of San Francisco in the background, we got some really good photos.
We got back into the van and headed back across the Golden Gate Bridge into the city and arrived at our hotel soon after. It was in a dodgy part of town and Jon warned us about walking around alone. It wasn't the greatest hotel I’ve seen but it was ok. I was sharing a room with Dave and Ben. After settling in I made a phone call to Alcatraz tours to try and get tickets, to which they told me there are none available for tomorrow. I was shattered, very upset, I called again and begged as we were only in town for 2 nights. They then told me that if I got there very early, around 7AM there's a chance I may get tickets, so that was the plan for tomorrow, there was still hope.
Tonight was the first optional on the tour and everyone in my group and the other parallel group were going to do it. It was a sunset cruise around the Golden Gate Bridge, there

Sunset cruise under the Golden Gate Bridge as the fog gets thicker was no way I was missing this. We got ready at the hotel then met in the lobby before getting a taxi to pier 39, where our boat was departing from. We had the whole boat to just our two trek groups. On board there were plenty of free snacks and a bar where we could purchase drinks, but we each got some free drinks with our ticket on board, but that didn't stop us buying more. As we left pier 39 out to San Francisco bay, you could see heaps of seals sitting on wooden pontoons by the pier. We sailed past Alcatraz and got some amazing photos of the prison and the city looking back. It was a clear day but before long a fog came over the bay as it tends to do in San Francisco and swallowed the incredible Golden Gate Bridge as we sailed under it, an amazing sight. When the sun set we headed back to Pier 39 and my trek group went to an Italian restaurant for dinner. We ate an expensive but tasty meal and had a few drinks before heading off to a nearby pub. The other trek group eventually met
