After a busy fun winter, we pulled up stakes on March 28th from Lapenita, Mexico. We travelled out with Dennis and Helen O'Neill. We spent a couple of days in Mazatlan, then did our first Pemex overnight. Pemex is the only gas stations in Mexico. It actually was just fine. Dennis and Helen have 2 great big dogs which love to sleep outside. They would have barked if there had been an issue. Spent our last night in Santa Ana with Anna and Edgar. They are a great Mexican couple that run a very run down campground but have the hearts of gold. I heard a huge group of rv's arrived at Edgar and Anna's in November. They didn't have enough room for them all so Edgar moved them all down to the local Pemex and hired his friend to sit up all night to provide a safe night. This is just Edgar going over and above for us gringos.
We left Dennis and Helen at Santa Ana the next day and they travelled up through Nogales, Az and we travelled to Lukeville and then drove straight to Palm Springs in time to have dinner with Karen, James, Sheila, Doug,
Marie and Bob. All friends from Mexico that had not gone this year. We thought we might stay here for a week but it is very nice so stayed two.
We travelled to Anaheim for a night on Thursday. A couple of girls that we met in Port Douglas just above Brisbane when we were there in 2008 were in Anaheim with their little guy for Disneyland. We met up at the hotel and chatted like we had just seen them last week. Had dinner and the next day met for breakfast just before they headed off to Disneyland.
We will leave here tomorrow and head to Hemet, Ca for two night just because we have never been there, then head to Tehachapi, Ca to visit with James and Karen Franklin. Then we will head to LasVegas on Monday April 23. Brooke, one of the girls from Port Douglas, mom, Helen is going to be in LasVegas for a few days. We also met her at Port Douglas and then had dinner with the group at her home in Sydney. What a small world!! We will have dinner with her and her friends and then attend Cirque de
Soile, Elvis.
Also, a couple of weeks ago a woman that we had lunch with in Aukland emailed to say she was coming to BC. She had one time lived in Powell River and somehow got in contact with Ross and Bonnie while we were visiting in Aukland. Lunch, of course we went. We had a delightful afternoon by their condos pool and chatted about everything in the world. I am hoping that she will let us pick her up at YVR, entertain her for the night and then put her on her plane back to Auckland the next evening.
I forgot, Evan came to visit. Hiroko flew down with him. He spent 4 nights with us and then we delivered him to hiorkos for the next 3 nights. He had a great time in both places. I know his favourite activity was the ATV ride. I had asked Carole from the park if we could arrange a ride for Evan. So it happened. He loved it, only as Evan can love something. He hooted and hollered most the way down the beach. Waving and doing the thumbs up all down the beach. Evan rode with Carole, she
had borrowed an ATV for Larry and I, Shirley and Bob lewis came as did Sol and Carol. We went right down to the far end of the beach and had a picnic. Evan enjoyed himself alot. Actually I think we all eenjoyed ourselves. I had really never ATVed before and it was a ton of fun.
We plan on being home about May 1, just before our NZ guest arrives.
Clayton's condo construction is progressing fairly slowly. It will be quite wierd not having him around. Mark and the kids skiied every Saturday for the winter season. Carli was laughing about the day she went skiing with the kids. I guess Brady, 4, was quite disgusted having to stick around with his mom. Mom, you have to go faster. I'm not going to wait for you. The kids did lessons in the morning and then they skiied with Mark, my nephew Jeremy and family. They all loved this time together.
Sort of looking forward to coming home. We are dragging our feet a bit hoping to have the weather improve. See you all soon.

Auzzie Connection
Thanks for the update Nancy. We really enjoy following your adventures, particularly your descriptions of your 'goings on' in Mexico. So lovely to see how you still manage to maintain your close family connection even though you are away...Evan's smile says it all! It just goes to prove you can have the best of both worlds. So glad you are keeping up with your Auzzie connections. It just goes to show how what might seem to be small, irrelevant meetings and conversations when thousands of miles away from home can blossom into something more meaningful. I think this has a lot to do with your ability (including Larry of course) to establish that special connection with people and show a genuine interest in them; not a trait everyone possesses. Wouldn't the world be a far better place if everyone could just manage to be a little less selfish and take more of in an interest in others. Keep safe and enjoy the next leg of your homeward bound trip. No doubt Vegas is beckoning?
