After a busy fun winter, we pulled up stakes on March 28th from Lapenita, Mexico. We travelled out with Dennis and Helen O'Neill. We spent a couple of days in Mazatlan, then did our first Pemex overnight. Pemex is the only gas stations in Mexico. It actually was just fine. Dennis and Helen have 2 great big dogs which love to sleep outside. They would have barked if there had been an issue. Spent our last night in Santa Ana with Anna and Edgar. They are a great Mexican couple that run a very run down campground but have the hearts of gold. I heard a huge group of rv's arrived at Edgar and Anna's in November. They didn't have enough room for them all so Edgar moved them all down to the local Pemex and ... read more

About 150 km east of Los Angeles, there is an oasis, and there are a number of cities that actually form one big city. Belinda and Davis are staying in Cathedral City at the moment, which is right next to the more well-known city of Palm Springs, known as the place where all the Hollywood stars go when they want to recover from the big city. Belinda and Davis had invited me to stay with them for a couple of days, so I had my first experience of the Southern Californian desert. Belinda and I went to the Joshua Tree National Park on Thursday. The park owes its name to the Joshua Trees that are in it, and their name most likely comes from their shape: they look like Joshua raising his arms towards the sky ... read more

We have had an exciting weekend in Palm Springs! Saturday we attended the Humana Golf tournament. Started out to be a beautiful day and we saw Bill Clinton, Phil Mickleson, Micheal Bolton and many other golfers and celebs. Then came the wind. Play was suspended and the Coachella valley was filled with wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour The air was full of sand. Just like a Saskatchewan blizzard! Many huge trees have been blown down in the valley and lots of debris everywhere. Cars, roofs, power lines and property damage can be seen everywhere. Now two days later there are still people without power. Sunday was a much nicer day and we took in our first Polo game. Lots of fun watching the amazingly athletic horses and riders. Six chuckers of seven minutes ... read more

New Years Eve! We spent a beautiful day in Cathedral City. I got to do my pool exercise and try out my new water weights. After much searching and negotiations we found a Restaurant for dinner. We all walked to Rileys Irish pub, it was about a 1 1/2 mile walk. We lucked out and they had Stella on draught. The food was okay, I even got to have Lobster. The restaurant was fairly empty, so we were able to talk and get to know each other. It was a really nice New Years. A really great way to get to know our traveling companions. We loaded up a van (taxi) for the ride back to our campers.... read more

Last minute packing delayed our start. But, we finally made it down to Cathedral City to join 2 of the 3 couples in our group. We met up at the Cathedral Palms Rv Park. We spent a nice evening getting to know everyone a little better. It was great to finally get started, even if it was just down the road. It is amazing how much stuff you can pack in a 10.5 foot camper! Red is very excited, not to mention us.... read more
