So much has happened in the last week! My original plan was to avoid LA like the plague, but I'm so glad I listened to my friends and decided to stay a bit. I could never have anticipated such a jolly good time........ I met Artemisia in Santa Monica last Wednesday afternoon following a harrowing bike ride across central LA. I've heard that the west coast is the place to be if you're a biker, but apparently you have to go a little farther north to find the real bike-friendly hospitality. I had drivers honking at me all the way there proudly announcing their ignorance of my right to the road. But things cheered up quite a lot once I found my way to my destination.
