Our belonging have been relocated to two generous friends' homes. We are sleeping on a twin size air mattress in our kitchen with only piles of clothes, a coffee maker, two computers, and some random games to occupy our time. Departure date is Friday, leaving Dave 4 days of work after today, and Julia with 5 days to fill with summertime friends and adventures. Thanks for loving us enough to care about our adventure.... read more

Woke up early, to wind and sun! After having a bite to eat, decided to go for a swim at the beach before getting stuff ready for the wedding. Meg asked Nancy to help out with decorating the arbour after Mark built it! Mark was up and working on it while Meg and Mary were having a manicure and pedicure on the terrace! At the same time, chairs were being set up, with white covers and bows, the bar cleaned and decorated, flowers being arranged, food being cooked, luminarios set up along the path....as Nancy and I called the day, the hurry up and wait! Finally the arbour was completed and Nancy, Jeanie and Hattie started decorating with white glads and the tulle Nancy carried from Kingston! And did I mention the wind???? A very windy ... read more

A lazy day! Nancy went over to the other hotel to walk the beach with Jeanne..and I stayed in to sleep! Planning on who is going to get dressed where, where are the family pictures going to be taken...after a swim, another nap, Nancy and I got up to dress for the rehearsal dinner. Dave, Meg and the Wedding Party, along with Julianna the Officiant rehearsed, we headed over to Guadua for dinner. A wonderful restaurant overlooking the beach just outside! Mojitas served, along with guacamole (one made with grasshopper), Ceviche, then a choice of shrimp, chicken or tuna! Dessert was a frozen watermelon with chile and lemon (absolutely divine). After being stuffed, we headed back to the Villa, for sleep! ... read more

Right now, no pictures, will post when I get home and receive pictures from other folks. Thursday, 7 of the guys went really early to go fishing with Martin. Just as 6 of us were getting ready to walk over to the surfing store for our lesson, a call came in the boys were soon to arrive on the beach with a marlin they just caught! Our villas were buzzing with excitement! After heading over to the surf shop and finding out our lesson would be down on our beach, we headed down...and there were the guys! The marlin weighed over 100 kg..and close to 6 feet long! It took all of the guys to reel him in...and to bash him over the head with a bat a few times (now can you imagine the girls ... read more

Up real early...6 am to put the coffee on, and make Nancy and I a fresh fruit smoothie before we met the girls to go fishing! Deep sea fishing, that is! After a stop for coffee, and some treats, we drove (11 people, plus the driver) to Playa Principal to catch our boat. 2 boats. Nancy and I were on the boat with Meg, Hattie, Jeannie and Mary! Martin, our driver, and guide, lured up the lines, and put them out, all of us anticipating the first catch! Not too long out of the bay, Jeannie caught a bonita!!!!! We were very excited!!!! Along the coast, waiting for the nibbles, we saw a sword fish, turtles, and dolphins! Watching the dolphins...we noticed, the dolphins right next to our boat. We slowed down, pumped the music (the ... read more

Tuesday, up early and to walk along the beach at the other resort! Spectacular! Except I left my memory chip back on the terrace, so no pictures of our walk with Jeannie and Barry! We arrived at the other resort, as Meg and Dave, Barry and Melissa and Tom were playing tennis and the Tennis Veil and Tennis tuxedo were given to the bride and groom! (pictures we will be added when we can figure out how to get off other cameras!). A day of shopping, setting home up, and waiting for the sunset (so Nancy and I can make Margaritas). At last the time came for margaritas, and thanks to Justin (Hattie's husband), Nancy made a pretty wicked Margarita for the sunset. Meg and Dave also were trying out some champagne, which we tried as ... read more

A few days later...just to update our trip so far! Nancy and I both arrived at the Sheraton at the airport right at the same time and got a beautiful suite! Settling in, we cracked open the wine, had a nap, went for supper, then more wine, then bed ('cause we got up at 4:15 am!!!!). We took the people mover to the terminal and waited in line, and found ourselves in line with Hattie and Justin! The flight was uneventful (except we all cried watching the movie "Everything's Fine, " with Robert DeNiro), got to Mexico City...and had fun trying to find out what we were to do next! The people in Mexico are very helpful and very determined to send us the right way...it just might not be where we want to go!!! We ... read more

Puerto Escondido After 6 days in beautiful Oaxaca, culminating in our succesful completion of not having more than one diarrhoeal episode within 24 hours within the first 17 days of our trip (there is a clue within that long and boring sentence), we decided to head for the Pacific coast, in particular to Puerto Escondido, a small port town with a few lovely beaches. We took the 6 hour mini-bus via the windy mountain route (as opposed to the 10 hour coach down straighter roads route) which provided incredible scenery. The climate changed many times, from arid dusty hills to thick cloud forest, to what looked to be jungle (and reminded us both of Malaysia) to pine forest as we went up and down and up and down (and round and round and round). The journey ... read more

Drove quite a bit the past couple of days, and found some nice cheap places to stay on the beach! Stayed just outside of Papanoah, next to a restaruante and pluged in... they said they just wanted a tip for staying the night! We thought it would be polite of us to go and have dinner at the restaruant for such nice hospitality.... were sure glad we did!! Fresh seafood... they catch it right out front of the restaurant!!! We all really enjoyed it. Drove south along the coast and went through a tunnel in Acapulco, a navigational error that ended up costing $500 pesos in tolls...oops. We saw a car accident, and the people don't move to the side. They just get out of their vehicles and wait for the federals to come and arrest ... read more
