Mexico and Mexico City especially has always held a small piece of Nikkie's heart. This is where her family is from and this is where she has done numerous a missions trip. This is also where I only hear stories of this much tequila and this many taco's and beans and chili by the truck loads and only speaking Spanish until... The point is that pretty much everything mentioned above is the complete, complete opposite of me (I'm doing better on the chili's and tequila, but still no Spanish for me and I still have some choice words for beans since... Well let's just leave it at that before I get into trouble). So since day one it has been a begging fest from Nikkie to go to Mexico City. I always used the violence as ... read more

Today the fags, flags, glitter, hot pants and crazy costumes came out, for Mexico cities annual pride parade. After meeting up with a bunch of friends, we adorned our pink velour outfit with rainbow headbands and set off to watch the parade..... and deflower my pride virginity. The streets were crowded with all types of crazy looking people in various get ups and ensembles, in some places you couldnt even move. The costumes were amazing, with a lot of effort and time put into them, where others (mine and Liz's) had five mins thought and 10 mins shopping time put into it. The march went on for approx 2-3 hours, having numerous floats, with scantily clad men and women prancing around to dance music that you would only ever like if you were high on ecstasy. But ... read more

Hey everyone, really sorry for the long silence we have tried a few times to get onto this but either the connection has been poo or the site has been down...so where do we start...not even a week in and loads to tell but we will try to keep it short for your sake and ours-its roasting in here!!! We spent the first few days in Mexico city and although we had a really good time we realised pretty quickly that it was a very big city to start with and as we´re still getting to grips with the language, being away, the whole travelling thing really we thought we would get away from the big city for a few days chilling out...so we´ve come to Acapulco- Tom has literally been singing going loco down in ... read more

Well I made it to México city! I was sick the first couple of days but after some much needed rest and after hearing that they found Lucy mi gatito (¡depúes de tres semanas!) I feel better. yay! Today was very eventful. I went to the templo mayor, which is the main temple for the aztec empire tenochitlan, all of mexico city sits atop what used to be Tenochitlan, which was a village of 200,000, peaking in the early 1300´s and sat in the middle of a lake. Anyway they uncoverd the ruins of this temple in the late 1970´s. It was pretty cool to walk through the ruins and then read all about the city and see artifacts in el museo templo mayor. I could almost imagine what the old city looked like before Cortez ... read more

Hello Everyone: I have 15 minutes to write my blog. I will start with Romon. The other night on the way home from supper we paused to watch tacos being made at a little hole in the all restaurant. There was a crowd of people sitting on those little plastic stools that I mentioned in my other blog. The cook whose name was Romon was the center of attention. He moved like a dipping bird, bobbing up and down, hands moving in all directions. He looked like someone who had to pee or like he was about to tip over at any moment. When he dug out the tortillias out of a bag when flip them on to the pan like a player dealing out cards. When everything was put on the plate it looked like ... read more

The messaure of a good company is how they deal with things when they go wrong. We booked several internal flights in Mexico that we intended to use for two trips. One to catch the Copper Canyon train from Los Mochis. The others to visit Mayan temples to the East of Mexico from Mexico city to Villamosa, Villamosa to Merida and Merida back to Mexico city. I had left the tickets to visit the Mayan temples in London and had called BA on 31st of October who informed me that I would be able to pick up replacement tickets at any BA ticket office. I called the BA ticket office the day before all the following took place who told me that their ticket office at Mexico City airport would be open from 4pm until 10pm ... read more

Hi All, Just thought we would say hello before we leave Mexico City! Not sure what our internet access will be like at Puerto Escondido. We climbed the second highest Pyramid in the world yesterday after drinking 3 really nice home made Tequila's!! One was straight from the plant another was made with Honey and almonds mmmmmm and the other just plain tequila, all really yummy! Teotihuacan was amazing, the view from the biggest pyramid was wicked. Being 2000 feet above sea level makes for hard climbing, and the steps are really steep, but pretty amazing when you get to the top! We seem to have done nothing but walk for the last two day's and we are ready for the beach and doing absolutely nothing for 2 weeks! Went on the tube on Fri, that ... read more

Hello All!! Well we made it here! 29 hours, and we are still not in our room! We cant have it untill 11am! It's 10 now so not long! We have just had breakfast on the roof terrace of where we are staying, the sun is shining and we are both still smiling, even tho we are both feeling a bit vacant! All the flights were fine we had our own row each time so it felt quite chilled out, the last 12 hour flight was the hardest, but then we discovered we could have Bombay Saphire and tonic, so proceded to knock our selves out with that, we woke up and only had 2 1/2 hours to go! we left madrid at 12:40am and arrived here at 6am (with a 6hr time difference) and never ... read more
