We awoke around 6:00 AM this morning, early enough for a workout in the gym; but, I decided to skip my exercising this morning. Little did I know the aerobic workout in store for me today! I had just the Scottish Stone Ground Oatmeal with bananas and some brown sugar, and some potato cakes, and a croissant, and some of Sharon’s crisp Turkey Bacon which she says that I need to find back home. Okay, so maybe I got carried away with my eating healthy, and what good that might have done was probably cancelled out by those tempting add-ons! Sharon started to order the All American Breakfast, but then switched to French Toast, and doesn’t even try to order it with just one slice because they always bring it with two anyway! We did our ... read more

And then the rains came. What does one do when the skies open up to a steady soaking rain? Why you go on a walking tour of course. We meet our guide Margarite and put up our umbrellas and head out. There are five of us including three Aussies. They have been traveling eastern Canada, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, then on to the M/S Maasdam to the Maritimes and down to Boston. One woman is from Melbourne, one from Townsend and the fellow is from Brisbane. It's always fun to travel with Australians. We start out a a small hotel, la Cremaillere, for an appetizer of asparagus with melted brie and a tastte of Burgundy. This would be a perfect place for a special romantic dinner. Then on to a Maple Syrup Museum where we learned ... read more

Quebec City ..... Driving to Quebec was wonderful. Once we hit the Vermont boarder we were the only ones on the road, or so it seemed. AAA directed us to the wrong address but we called the Inn and arrived in time for dinner. Dined at an old woodworking mill overlooking the pond. The food and service were excellent and and it was such a pleasant evening to eat outdoors. Our stay at the Inn was interesting. We were the only guests and that was a good thing as there was a shared bathroom. How that escaped my notice is a puzzle. Breakfast was good. Fresh squeezed OJ, fruit and crisp potato shreds with tomato and scallions topped with cheese and two fried eggs. Never in my life have I eaten fried eggs but WTH. Actually ... read more

Today we ventured outside of the city of Quebec. Our first stop was the Parc De La Chute-Montmorency just outside of the city. These waterfalls can be seen from the main road and really are a bit of a tourist trap but you dont know that at the time! Cost us $32 to park the car and go up a short cable car ride up the mountain to see the falls. If you don't want to go up in the cable car you can walk up the 487 steps to the top. The stairs are anchored to the cliff side and from the stairs you are meant to hear the full force of the falls. There is supposed to be a guide to talk about the falls on the ride up but we never saw one. ... read more

Weather is definitely colder here In Quebec...time to bring out the warmer clothing again. We have found that the locals here are more willing to speak in English - could be because of the large amount of tourists they receive via cruise lines. In any case the language barrier is not what is was in Montreal. Slept soundly in our king size bed here at the Best Western - certainly a change to sleeping in the RV...even better is the ability to soak in a hot bath - how you miss the simple things in life when on the road. It was cloudy and raining lightly this morning when we left the hotel for our walk up to Old Quebec - but it wasn't enough to ruin our plans. Walked through Place D'Youville again only today ... read more

Geo: 46.8266, -71.3024What a delight to have a bright sunny day with a cloudless sky. That is what greeted us when we docked in Quebec City. As we are a relatively small ship we docked in the Old Port and therefore could walk off the ship and straight into the old town. What a beautiful city Quebec is. It looks more French than Paris! In the old quarter we wandered through narrow streets lined with gorgeous shops and restaurants. We could have spent a fortune on the beautiful glass ware that is characteristic of this area. In the Place Royale there is a beautiful little church, the Eglise Notre Dame des Victoire, which is worth a visit. Bulit in 1688, it is the oldest stone church in North America. From the old town we took the Funicular ... read more

Our day was spent in Old Quebec City. We found parking close to the Citadel but the max time was 2 hours. We walked all of the city and did not find any better parking. So every 2 hours we had to go back to the truck and put money in the meter. Our first stop was breakfast, where we found the most expensive eggs on the planet at a small place called Restaurant d'Omelette. The omelette's were good but not worth $40.00. Next was a tour of the Citadel. It is actually a working army base so you can't just walk around in there yourself. You have to be with a guide. The tour was very informative and there is quite a collection of army artifacts in some of the buildings. It is kept in ... read more
