Moonlit Bay
Tell me this is not beautiful!!!This region of Quebec is most dear to my heart because it is where I was born. I hail from a very small village called Pointe-à-la-Garde. It is at the entrance to the Baie des Chaleurs,(roughly translated as Bay of Heat), so named by Jaques Cartier in 1534 as he sailed into said bay, probably on July 15th. Since it the only real hot day we have! (not!)
The trip around the peninsula, is a must, going from Ste. Flavie around the north shore through Matane, Ste. Anne des Monts, etc. to Forillon National Park, to Gaspé and of course to the gem of the peninsula, Percé and Percé Rock. Then the fishing and tourist towns along the bay, Paspébiac, New Carlisle, Carleton etc, all have many interesting and sometimes breathtaking vistas. Speaking of vistas, the Matapedia Valley which will take you back to Ste Flavie will enchant you. It follows a famous salmon river, very popular with american fishermen, and it (the valley) is absolutely gorgeous.!
