Peggy's Cove
Dee's Kia Soul with Peggy's Point Lighthouse Today we got up and left for Peggy's Cove which is a small rural community located on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay in Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality. Before we got there Leith reminded us that there are signs that say Don't Go Past Here and if we did we could possibly slip into the water and most likey die...like many others have. Yaaaa freak us out Leith lol but what he said was true. Peggy's Cove is one of the busiest tourist attractions in Nova Scotia and it took a few tries to get a photo without random people in the background but we did it! It was SUPER windy! Half our photos are with us eating our hair lol but it was worth it! We then ended up taking some great pics and looked out at the Atlantic Ocean...in the middle of what I thought was my moving speech about the water and the beauty of nature Jen cuts me off with...I gotta pee. lol thanks Jen...kill the moment. As we headed off on the road past all of the quaint shanties we saw the sign that said the Swissair Flight 111 crash site memorial was up
Peggy's Point Lighthouse
Dee's fave lighthouse! Dream come true!! ahead. We stopped and paid our respects. On 2 September 1998 the plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean at the entrance to St. Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia. The crash site was 8 kilometres from shore, close to Peggys Cove and Bayswater. All 229 people on board died. We got to O'Regan's Kia Halifax and met General Manager Aaron Searle. I did a little interview with him (check out the vids on here). Glenn Semaniuk whom Lindsay and I worked with down in the newsroom at TBT News back in the day now works for Bounce 101.3 in sales and he showed up at the dealership with donations as well which was so sweet! Kia is one of his clients so he decided to came by which was very cool! He then gave us a tour of the studio at Bounce! Everyone was very friendly and I had a blast learning about how different their radio shows are run then mine at Rock 94. We do a lot more talking where as they do quick blurbs before the next song starts. Cool experience! Glenn got us on their party boat tomorrow where their contest winners get to go on! WHOOOOO! SOOOOO
Peggy's Cove
Peggy's Point Lighthouse and Dee's Kia Soul. fun! What a way to end our trip!!!!!!! THANK YOU GLENNARD SKYNARD!!!! lol We then delivered Kia O'Regan's generous donations from their Kia into ours and delievered them to Feed Nova Scotia...they feed 40,000 people every month!!!! Unreal! We did an interview with Kirk McGrath and he said one of the major things that they need on their shelves is PROTEIN! They accept and distribute non-perishable and perishable food items. The need is so great every single day. I really hope that communities make an effort to donate food items on a regular basis..that is my hope and dream. We should never assume that someone else is taking care of the need...we all need to step up. The people at Feed Nova Scotia are holding an event called the Char-a-tea dinner and auction in support of FEED NOVA SCOTIA. The number of Nova Scotians who rely on food banks for assistance as increased 33 per cent in the last two years. Funds rasied through this event helps address their need by enabling Feed Nova Scotia to support food banks throughout the province. OCTOBER 5th!!!!!! Check out www.feednovascotia.ca for more info!! It was an amazing end to an amazing food drive...well
Swissair Flight 111 Memorial
One of the monuments at the memorial site where the plane crashed. technically it's not the end. Monday we are holding the Thunder Bay Feed My Soul Food Drive at Performance Kia! Then on Aug 26th we will be holding a wrap up Feed My Soul tour party at Crock's thanks to the generosity of Frank Loffredo and the folk's at the bar. We'll have live music and all the proceeds at the door will go to our local foodbanks! Tomorrow we will be on the Bounce 101.3 Party Boat!!!
