Hello from Canada, We said a fond farewell to Bar Harbor & Acadia, but made a spontaneous stop at a local birdhouse artist. We could have purchased any house we wanted on the honor system. But, Bob the artist and a native of the area, wanted to talk. He could tell a story about each and every birdhouse, where the materials had been salvaged from, and his mother's collections. He was a single parent and had to make a living on Mt. Desert Island and care for his son. He restores antique furniture and builds very unique birdhouses. Guess what we are bringing home in the motorhome! A quick stop at the L.L. Bean Outlet store helped us obtain a comforter and wool socks as the temp is getting cooler. Big decision: north or south? North ... read more

From Annie: Hi again , y'all! Thank you for your comments, Chris, Sarah, Linda and Verne (and Grammy).... Your comments are always appreciated. Well, in the meantime, we've grieved Timber and recovered. What helped us most was a dream that Greg had several days ago. He met Timber in a sunny field. Timber communicated with Greg telepathically. Timber told Greg that he was sorry for being aggressive toward him, but that things happened the way they had to. He was never going to give Greg control over him (or anyone else, for that matter). But he is happy where he is now. He was happy and grateful that we got him out of the kennel and made his last days here on earth so nice for him, giving him so much love and attention. He thanked ... read more

From Annie: Hi, y'all. How are you, we missed you. Don't know why the blogsite was down. Some hacker, apparently. Well, here we are again. It's good to be back. We've been busy with so many things. Unpacking the essentials, some higgledy-piggedly furniture, especially our two rocking chairs. One from Grama in Duncan, for when Joey was born, and one from Jeanette and Steve (God love them), what a great rocking chair that is. Have I written all this before? I can't recall, maybe it's deja vu. In any case those rocking chairs are worth mentioning again. We also bought some outside fold-up chairs, which have somehow migrated from the porch into the living room. There's one you can put your feet up, which is our neighbours' favorite. His name is Don, and is the ... read more

I went to a tractor pull. I ...went to a tractor pull. Life is rather different here. The pace is somewhat slower. We survived the furniture move in, Annie slurping up spiders and Joey suffering with a manual lawn mower. We survived the tractor pull and the Fair and Midway. Only time will tell about the demolition derby. Rest assured that I have a new baseball cap and have begun to say “some” quite a bit. As in “some hot”, “some cold” or “that sure was some storm”. I fought the temptation to use an exclamation point, as people around here tend to only seem to get excited on rare occasions. Once I see it, I will let you know. Tim Horton’s is becoming a way of life. It is the place where all the old ... read more

If you're an arachnophobe, or you love your cotton candy, don't read this. If you're not sure whether you're an arachnophobe, go ahead and read this; if you have a nightmare about spiders tonight, you may be a closet arachnophobe. Well, here we are in our new (rented) home. So, you know those old fashioned houses, really old ones, that no one has been living in for a while? And you know how people decorate their houses on Halloween, with the white spider web stuff with big fat spiders in it? Now take the two together, the house and the spiders, and that's what we were dealing with today. While Greg and Joey dealt with the movers, I was waging war with spiders. Thousands of them. Not kidding. All day long. Not kidding. Literally 9 am ... read more

OMG! Before I drive myself crazy with excitement, let's begin at the beginning. I woke up to my Dad, shaking me, singing: "Good Morning, Good Morning! You've slept the whole night through, Good Morning, Good Morning, to you!" Then we had a lovely breakfast of cereal, bagels, and waffles (With orange juice!), all included in the complimentry Continental Breakfast that you always get when you travel to Best Western's. I severly recomend traveling in the Best Western hotel chain, just don't go to any in Winnipeg, or Thunder Bay. And if you're staying in Quebec, don't go to the Hotele L'Aristrocrate. But otherwise, it's a good chain. After Breakfast, we went back to our room, and I looked at some videos on Youtube. All Family Guy and Simpsons related. Then Dad said we had to go ... read more

Greg Well here we are. It has taken a day for me to rest up enough to write this and as I sit here now, I realize that this is may be my last Travel Blog post. How exciting. The town here is very nice. Just how I remembered it. Looking around and at the people as we explore, I can't help but hear my grandmother's voice in my head "God love dem". I have a feeling the longer I stay here, the louder the voices will get. We went by the house yesterday and today. It is in a great neighborhood. Stately old places and tree lined streets. Very nice, very quiet....so far. Annie wants to get rid of a bunch of spiders that have made the overhang of the covered porch their home. I ... read more

The night we stayed at Le Hotel Aristrocrate was absolutey horrible! Everything was so cramped, the beds were bad, and what really made me upset was it had a 4 star hotel rating from the Quebec rating company, and 4 stars from the national hotel rating commitee! The only thing that was good was the food. That was it. So if you ever find yourself going to Quebec City, make sure that you don't stay there! I had a nice Bacon 'n Eggs there, though they were'nt as good as Grandma's. Dad had the same, and Mom had her classic of a "Double order of extra extra crispy bacon." I can understand that! We love bacon! After that we drove for a bout 75 kilometers, and then we dropped by a Petro-Canada to get some gas. ... read more
