this is one of the many pics we took of the mountains as we approached them from calgary. very exciting stuff.

as the rockies appeared over the foothills the trip ahead became a reality. we were very excited.

this is the first ascent in the foothills just east of the mountains.

it was hard to keep the camera away for two minutes at a time.

the truck handled the ascents and the descents very well. we had to be careful to use the engine to slow us down as much as possible.

i wouldn't ever want to see a situation where this might have to be used! wowzer.

there was some pretty serious construction going on... perhaps an alternate route? It looked like they were re-routing to avoid having the highway dip down into a valley, and have it cross it instead

a close up of one of the supports for the new bridge going up... if you look closely you can see some workers up there. how'd they get up there?

there was a lot of evidence of logging in the mountains... cuts like these, as well as big logging trucks carrying the freshly cut lumber to the mill.

one of the most challenging part of the drive through the rockies. it was exciting!

geoff getting samples fromt the truck for the clerk at the gas station. most are very happy to receive the razors! we've got friends across the country now.
