Icefield Pathway to Banff

Driving the icefield Pathway to Banff was an amazing experience. The mountains and glaicers were spectacular and after every bend in the road there was yet another spectacular mountain to take your breath away. Lake Louise was one stop we couldn’t miss, so we took the turn off and followed along with the other tourists to the very famous Lake Louise. No surprise at all, it was absolutely stunning. We did the photo thing and took in the amazing view (the glacier above the lake was also spectacular) and decided to make our quick escape from the tourists and continue on way to Banff.

When we arrived in Banff we dropped off our stuff, at Banff Rocky Mountain Resort, and headed into town. We strolled the streets and took in the amazing view. Banff is a picturist small little tousit town in the Bow valley surrounded by mountains. The first few days we relaxed and soaked in the mountains, and just enjoyed having our own place for awhile. We visited Canmore a cute little town about 20K away- a nice little place where a lot of people that work in banff live, its cheaper and more relaxed with the same spectacular mouintain views just outside of banff national park. We got our heart pumping hiking up Tunnel mountain and got to see Banff from above, just a short little hike up but has an elevation gain of 260 meters. We have done lots of walking around and seen lots of spectular sights, like mountains, waterfalls and squirrels but still no bears. 😞

We decided to buy my snowboard and grants skigear here becasue we could save 7.5% tax. I felt like it was christmas day getting my spanking new board, binding and boots. The other nice surpise apart from saving on tax was the amazing service we got from Rude girls and Monod's. Highly recommend their service. Now it's our last day in Banff so we are off to just osak in the atmopshere one last time before we head off to Fernie.
