The breathtaking Emerald Lake Shortly after we’d gone to sleep, we woke up again, some of us only getting a couple of hours sleep. This morning we were going white water rafting but most of us felt way too hung-over for that but we pushed ourselves to do it anyway. Dave woke Jon up out of the trailer so we could get ready and he was furious. Jon was so angry he told me off for waking him up when I passed him on his way to the bathroom, I didn’t even know he was up. He gave us a small lecture when we were all in the van and told us never to force him up again then drove us to the rafting centre. It was quite calm at this time year so we weren’t expecting anything to extreme. We all got geared up with our wetsuits and woolen jumpers then got in the van on our way to the river.
We had a short demo of what to do and before we knew it we were on our way down the river. It was quite calm most of the way down with a few scary moments and when we got to the

Our group ready to go whitewater rafting bottom they offered us another session which was much tougher, we all did it. We had some drinks and cookies then got ready for the next section. This was much rougher and in one part they even let us jump into the water. I put my hand up and after some convincing Tina and Marcia also jumped in with me. It was freezing, so cold it was very difficult to breathe. As soon as we could we jumped back aboard the boat and continued on wet, cold and grumpy. When we returned, Jon was lying on a bench waiting for us, we were only supposed to be an hour but ended up taking longer.
We headed down the road for some lunch and ate at a strange pub which was really expensive then headed off on our way to Banff campsite. On the way we stopped at a place called Emerald Lake to find an incredible green-blue lake, completely still with the reflections of mountains which stood in the background. It was beautiful, so peaceful and the colour of this lake was just surreal. We headed back and shortly made another stop at a naturally formed bridge which was

Emerald Lake also quite interesting. After a brief look around we got back into the van and moved on to the campsite. We arrived to find many trek groups were here camping then heading off into different directions. It was also one of our longest stops of this massive trip, we were here for three nights. We cooked dinner undercover and couldn’t decide if we should head out to town. The other group were heading out, but they hadn’t been up since 6:30AM, they had a sleep in this morning and skipped white water rafting. We all decided to have a quiet night (except for Lucy who went out with the other group). I went to sleep around 9:30PM totally wrecked and freezing my ass off.
