Edit Blog Post
Hi everyone,
Well, it's Wednesday morning and we are in Prague. Arrived last night, after an adventure in Cairo. More on that later. I have a few blogs to do, today and tomorrow, and will get caught up since we have free time. Internet connection in Luxor was less than desirable if/when we even had it!
But first, I want to share with you a "special edition" blog. This is courtesy of Irene and Klaus Buechner. They took a helicopter tour of Dubai and graciously shared the pictures with me. In turn, we would like to share them with you. As I mentioned in an earlier blog on Dubai, it is a work in progress! 75% of the world's largest cranes are located in Dubai and construction is mind-boggling.
So sit back and enjoy this glorious aerial view. Thanks again, Irene and Klaus!
Happy Pat
(Good night, Mom. I love you and will see you soon!)

Palm Islands
Hi pat - I just watched a documentary on how the Palm Islands were created. IT seems that money can buy almost everything - including land added to your country. Can't imagine feeling secure at all living there - what happens if ocean levels rise? Also - all I could think of is how difficult it would be to escape from there - when all the traffic must pass through a bottleneck. Even those round circles of private homes - they must all pass through the 'stem' of the design to get out. Hmmmm - I've studied far too much about women in these countries. It's all fascinating though - to see how a tiny country creates more space. Japan does the same thing, of course, but not to that extent. Maybe Japan is more vulnerable to tsunami's - and that is why they don't extend their land as much as they have in Dubai. Still enjoying your blogs..... still thinking about how to do this trip myself. Diann
