We were just returning to the Lodge from our game drive, and I was able to capture this!
And I'm back! There are just too many wonderful pictures and stories that we want to share with you, and one blog entry just doesn't do it! As much as it can be over-whelming to stay up to date sending these to you, I know it is also over-whelming for you to keep current with us! But isn't it just a ton of fun?????!!!!!!! We are having the time of our lives and technology enables us to share it with you!

Ok, so back to Africa. On the last evening, we had a special "Bush Dinner'. It was on the grounds of the Lodge, but about a 5 min. walk down the path into the bush. There was a grand bonfire burning, chefs cooking over BBQs, a performance by some tribe members, tables beautifully decorated..........it was grand! My Tour Leader companions and I decided to put on a little show ourselves. We went down into the dinner area in the bush a little early, so we could chat with the Lodge staff and explain what we were wearing and why. We didn't want to insult anyone, or be disrespectful, with our very own special "Afro hair-do's". The dinner was amazing;
It's G & T time!It's G & T time!It's G & T time!

My peers introduced me to Gin & Tonic; I had never had one! They're such a bad influence........
the weather was perfect, complete with a full moon; gifts were given to all and it was a fun time.

The next morning, we were up and on our way to the Dash 7 (or Dash 8......I don't really know what the little plane is called!) to take us away to Nairobi. On the way to the airstrip, we had a mini-game drive as many of the animals were out and about. One van was "rushed" by a bull elephant. Lots of excitement. We were, after all, in THEIR turf! It was an adventure. Another van had a flat tire and that slowed them down a bit, to say the least. You can bet that the 36 people who were left behind in Nairobi last time were going to be first in line to get OUT of Samburu! Ha ha. We knew to expect that. But, all is well that ends well and both planes took off.

It was on to Nairobi and then on to Luxor, Egypt. More great stories to come!

(Good night, Mom. I love you!)

Happy, happy Pat
