We have been meeting with people who work with organizations in Beer Sheva, who know what Otzma is and are ready for us to work with them. The problem is that all the chagim (Jewish holidays) are during the week so a lot off offices are closed. BUt this is what I am interested in:
Beit Elem, this is a coffee shop that is open at night to work with "at risk" teens. I am supposed to go there and just be a roll model.
Atidim: This is the organization that I will work with to get trained to teach and tutor english in any school in Israel.
AIDS/ Ben Gurion Uni. This is a organization that is trying to make people have more awareness of AIDS and the HIV virus. They go to different parties in the area and hand out condoms and promote sexual knowledge instead of people being ignorant.
Sarokka Hospital: I have the opportunity to go to the childrens ward and just be a smiling face and maybe dress up as a clown. My Bat Mizvah project was in a childrens hospital I know how important it is just to be there and
help them lighten their day.
I hope that these work out but I will see after vacation. I have planed my sukkot vacation with TX and MD is going to be joining us for some parts. I am very excited. We were supposed to go to AKKO but that got changed because there were riots and because of safety Otzma wont let us go. So we are going to Haifa, Zickron Yakkov, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. It should be fun. In Haifa we are going to the German Colony and teh Bahi Gardens, walk around the beach and the mountains which the city sits on. Zickron Yakkov we are going to go wine tasting at Tishbi and Carmel. We are staying at TX's moms college roommate house. I am very excited. I have never really gone wine tasting before. Jerusalem we are spent at my grandparents grandpa was back in the hospital not feeling great so we were able to spend time with grandma for simchat torah. TX and I went to shira chadasha and really enjoyed it. This was the only kehila that we would have been able to dance with the Torah which we did.
Motzie chag, I made my usual who is in Jlem when I am phone calls to see if I could make plans. It happens to be a couple Otzmanikim in Jlem as well for FLs bday. But i have been talking to a sabra, who was the medic of our first tyul in israel and if I could see him that would be great. I met up with sabra TX met up with hebrew univ boy and we met up with LA and Tamir FL CA and some other israelis. We went to Zollies which is a typical high school bar in jlem but we were a big group. I am so glad that I was able to spend time with both my groups and my eyes started to glisten since I was able to have my cake and eat it too. I think sabra and I might be moving to a new level more just friends but I am not counting on it. I have invited him to come to TA tomorrow because every otzmanikim is going to be there since vacatioon is almost over. It was a great vacation with MD and TX lets see what else this
year has to come.
