I just spent last night on the beach celebrating FLs bday in TA with the entire Otzma group. It was great to see every one and hear stories from Sukkot vacation. Some people when back to the states, greece, and some people just like me traveled around Israel to really get a feel for the country. We were all on a high from just getting back from vacation and no one wanted to go to a seminar but of course that is what Otzma has programed.
TX and CO and I we all in a room in hyarkon hostel we all checked out and was ready to meet the group at Allozeroff bus station, we hear that the only sherut that goes there was the number 16 but we thought if another one will drop us close, that would work too and then we could just walk. So we get on the sherut that is for in the circumfence of TA and we are ready to meet the group and what not. (TX and I went from Allozeroff to jlem the other day, and we know what the area is like) We look around the area and it doesnt look
right and all of a sudden, the driver says we are here and we know that it is wrong. So we get off and we are asking the locals where aloserff station is and they all point to the other side of town. We then call one of the Otzma staff and they said that they could not wait for us and that is was our fault gave us this street name and told us to go to the main tachant merkazit and find our way there. When we got to the tachanat we were so ready to go back to B7 since we had to pay our way back... anyways we were troopers and went along to the seminar. With our broken hebrew TX CO and myself get on a on a city bus and walk about an hour or so with our huge suitcases... and we finally find NEVE TZEDEK... we call the otzma staff again saying we are here waiting for them and their response was, "we will be there in about an hour and 1/2 so just chill out."
I automattically blurt out .. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!!? Seriosuly you couldnt wait for us
for five minutes at alozerof and now you are making us wait another hour and 1/2 because it was our fault that the sherut driver took us to the wrong station. This is the first time I really stated not like the flaws of some of the logistics of my program. So with that hour and 1/2 TX Co and myself find a beit cafe and sip on ice coffee since we just walked our little hearts out. We finally meet up for the group for lunch, mostly confused and tierd since we missed 1/2 of the seminar but we made it and its ok. We later find out that they didnt leave the bus station until 20 min or so after they orig planned so they really could have waited for us if they wanted to.
That day, I ended up learning about the Israeli stock echange. I spend the day on the floor of the stock market and it was so calm. People were not yelling, they had about four phones ringing at one desk, and it was busy but never what I imagined it to be like in Beer Sterns or Leman Brothers. They explained how the system works and what it is like to use the Bloomberg system which is what Mayor Bloomberg created as the international communication languge and system that the different stock markets use.
Its not exactly how I would like to spend the day after my vacation all I wanted to do was go back down south, and get comfortable unpack and do laundry. We ended getting back to B7 around nine pm and I was exhausted. Laundry waited til next couple days and I was eager to just get back to my normal rutine if that even exists..
