I did pretty much the whole continent in 2 weeks, using trains, for about $3000... but that included the flight from the US. So, it'll be a modest living, but you could do it. Have you thought about getting a work permit? newplacestogo Gary Bowman Post Count: 35 Msg: #3 2 days ago, May 9th 2008 | Nick, | The only thing I might suggest is to think about, and perhaps you already have, is some sort of backup plan should you have unexpected troubles and/or run out of money. I posed a question on another forum, Gringos Really In Trouble?, and I'd hate to see you be one of those on the street that I might end up ignoring thinking you're simply a scammer as opposed to really needing help. That said, either make sure you've researched how to get a hold of your Embassy (if you're American, there is a program for "destitute Americans", though I don't know details, the Department of State and the State Department's Travel site is helpful though probably goes a little overboard on the safety aspect. I suppose I'd rather they were a little overconcerned than the other way around). Also, maybe talk with a family member or friend that you can contact in case. Make sure they and you understand this is truly for emergency only. Also if you are travelling in Summertime bring a tent so you can ask farmers if you can camp on their land. If you dont mind the slow mode of transport what about getting a bicycle and cycling as far as you can. At least it would not cost much. I knew a guy who cycled long distances. He cycled from Germany to Sicily and back and then from Germany to Ireland(took a boat accross the water of course) and back. Practice tailoring how much you spend before you leave. See if you can spend less by replacing certain things you buy with something cheaper. Or what about you fly to India or SE Asia? You can live on between 5 and 20 dollars per day there including cheap accomodation and cheap transport. My question is, what are the ways, so that I could raise a money for my accommodation fees when I get to a foreign country? or Is there any? ------------------------------------------------------------------ Thomas Johnson Highly relevant, efficient advertising to forum, blog, wiki and other types of web sites.
