Getting out of bed at 8 this morning was extremely easy despite staying out until 6:30. I’m pretty excited about going to Barcelona obviously. Before we could take off for Barcelona we had a conference about Dali. He is such an interesting artist. Fortunately after having a long conference about him we were able to stop at his museum in Figueras before arriving in Barcelona. I wish I could have taken pictures of his work but you will just have to believe me when I say it’s the most unique and interesting collection I’ve ever seen. He created such a variety of pieces; I was in awe that he could do everything he did in his lifetime. There were huge sculptures and paintings and the museum seemed to go on forever. It was amazing to see such an amazing artist who was a huge part of the culture here.
We left Figueras and arrived in Barcelona not too long afterwards. We all explored the city and Las Ramblas for a little while and then went back to our hotel (which was beautiful by the way) to get ready for the night. We went out for tapas and I knew what
I had to get- paella! I had an amazing little bowl of paella with shrimp, calamari and craw fish. It really hit the spot. After that we all went down Las Ramblas- a street in that has restaurants, bars, street performers, and shopping- for a few drinks. We ended up at a little bar with a bunch of tourists. It was fun because the waiter wanted everyone in the bar to be friends and talk with one another so we made friends with people from Poland, California, and Italy who were all traveling just like us. All of us went down to the beach afterward to enjoy beautiful night and scenery.
Tomorrow is going to be a long long day so we’re going to bed early tonight… and by early I mean early in the morning. Its about 5:30 in the morning… When in rome right?
