Arriving at our Internet booked accommodation, we were not impressed. It was huge with long corridors out in the never never. You could imagen that ghosts could float over those long passages. We were lucky enough to cancel without problems and found a B & B which was nearer the village. Yes, it had a shower, so we took it. The house was build early 1800, amazing. We went down the stairs and unpacked. Looking the room over we saw a king size bed and the bathroom??? On either side of the window were two cupboards with wooden doors. Upon looking, there was a toilet with a little basin in one, the other showed a shower. Interesting we never showered in a cupboard before. Water was plenty and hot too. You had to leave the door open, a shower curtain tried to keep the water inside, but was not always successful doing that. Cleaning your teeth while hovering over the toilet bowl, was new as well. Breakfast was super, so one survives. We set out the following day to discover the Cotswold. You think you are on a movie set of Harry Potter. One building carries the fame of being the oldest Inn of England. It was hard to read the exact year but we think it was somewhere in the 900th. A lot of roads are only one car wide, obviously not made for the modern world, and many sht sht sht were heard on the passenger side. You have to have a sort of politeness when you manoeuvring your car. Sometimes you give and another time you take the right of way. We can only hope to come out of this without a scratch. We looked at a few villages and they all are nice but the parking of cars spoils the chance to take photos. That night we had a nice meal in the local pub. Following day we woke up to a very grey looking sky, that did not promise much good. We decided to visit Gloucester and visit the famous Cathedral. We had heard about it and with a day like this, made it an excellent choice. People were right, it was well worth the visit. The stained glass windows tell the stories of the Bible. It is a very big church, it seems endless when you walk around it. It dates from around 1100 A.D.. The Dominican Monks started the building, over the top of one that was already there since 400 A.D. We had time for one more visit to a place called Tetbury. It was a long drive, that took us over the smallest roads Tom could find. Arriving there we found that much traffic it was impossible to take pictures. As a last we went to the local church, but after the Gloucester Cathedral the interest was lost. We set the Tom Tom to Cincester, where we booked in for the night. The Bear Inn had a good meal, for Liz a Burger and for me a mixed grill. We both could not finish it. Tomorrow we will go South, direction Dover, but that is for next time. Bye for now Liz and Allan
