on the way
Beside the speedy Eurostar we had a wonderful time, just not long enough - though you can't keep up the pace for so long! We walked and walked and I found that what I had imagined - from photos - was not quite right, so about time I actually visited and saw it.
We stayed near Gare du Nord, so could walk to Monmartre in 15 minutes - though it took a while to climb all the steps once you're there. Handy for the metro - could be at Notre Dame in 10 minutes! The boat trips go from there too. On Thursday we met Sophie's pen friend, her husband and 3 small children at Versailles for a spectacular day of fountains, and a very big picnic where everyone was supposed to wear white. I expect Sophie's pictures will be better, and she'll certainly have more to choose from - takes after Sue where cameras are concerned! But here are some of mine, of course they don't have me on them.
