Wednesday 26 July 2023, day 10 of pembrokeshire coastal walk. Alltrails app: 3 hour 14 minutes walking. 7.41 miles. 449 feet elevation gain. ( Gary showed 840) Garmin forerunner 25: 3 hours 16 minutes walking 7.41 miles. 511 feet elevation gain. We left our lodging in Marloes about 0930 and walked past the Runwayskiln where we had lunch yesterday. This was the first mile. Continuing along this track road in about 2/3 of a mile more we joined the pembrokeshire coastal path heading toward Martin's Haven where we had taken the boat to Skomer Island to see the Puffin's. To say the weather was abysmal is an understatement. As we reached the coast the wind seemed to be 40-50 mph and the rain soaked through our raincoats. At the third mile we came to the Lodge ... read more

Tuesday 25 July 2023, at rest day at Marloes. When Jo was planning for this coastal walk she thought we would spend today seeing the Puffins. So we booked today as a non walking day for the boat ride to Skomer Island. As we got more info she thought the puffins might be gone by this time in July so we went shortly after arriving in Tenby. The day was sunny and we explored the area and had lunch at Runwayskiln kiosk. Photos of the Clock House our BnB, and the lunch spot. Our evening meal was again at the Lobster Pot. Logistics of contacting taxi transfers, Roch Castle estimated arrival and transfers from the castle to dinner were afternoon agenda items. It is very convenient having Google Fi cell phone service since I am connected ... read more

14th of August Staying at a campground in Caerfia, St David, Wales. We are up high on a cliff looking out onto Ramsey Island. The kids have disappeared into the campground. Blake looks like a little gypsy child, Anton and Mason are fighting up a storm over a cricket game. We just pretend they’re not ours. Actually on the ferry today an American lady who sat opposite us for the whole trip came up to me when were we leaving and tapped me on the shoulder. She then proceeded to tell me that we have lovely polite boys. I must of pulled a face because she said - no truly they are. Then she told her group as we walked down to Hugo - those boys are so polite and well behaved. Wonders will never cease. ... read more

Aaaarrrrgh! This time next week I'll be driving up to London for my final day in the UK for 10 months! I've spent the past few days being a complete geek- writing lists about things to do, things to pack, things to buy etc etc. I think that pretty much everything is ready, and I know that my backpack is going to be the heaviest and fullest thing EVER!!!!!!!! I know that I'm taking more clothes than I probably need, but I figure that just means I'll have to do laundry less! It's all the suntan lotion, mosquito sprays, travel guides and things like that which take up all the room (unfortunately, no room for hair straightners!) Oh well, I don't plan on actually having to carry my rucksack around very far anyway. From the hostel ... read more
