Hi All,

So we began day two after kicking the jet lag with a good nights sleep. We had a very relaxed morning and did a little more planning as to what else we want to venture out to see. At about 1pm we headed out with Helen and Jane to check out Jane Austen's house in Hampshire. This was the house where she re-wrote Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility, and wrote Emma, Mansfield Park and Persuasion (all this rambling Jane Austen info is more for Marnie's sake... I'm sure anyone who is sitting within earshot of her can probably hear her screaming "NO WAY!!" when she realizes I was just in her house!) So we wandered through the house and through the garden and saw a whole lot of heirlooms from her family and walked over the creaky floors through all the rooms... we even saw the actual writing table that she used...(Marnie - I have all the info to show!) After we finished there we went across the street for a cup of tea and a piece of cake before making our way back to Reading.

Tomorrow we are heading out to Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare's birthplace), so I'm sure I'll be well on my way to filling up my memory cards with tons of pictures!

Until tomorrow...

Warwick Castle
Make sure you get photos of each other in the stocks!! The figures are so lifelike that they might startle you ... do climb the tower that was built in the 14th century and imagine knights defending it -- amazing!! I hope you get to see the knight explaining the armor -- try on the armor and heft a sword if you can, too.... those little medieval knights were tough! Andrea will be green with envy that you were able to get into Jane Austen's house as we got there too late so could only wander a bit in the gardens. Stratford is gorgeous!!! the ducks on the river are quite tame; if you take bread crumbs you might get to feed them and see their wee babies. Love you, Aunty Margo
