The astute among you will have notice that I have managed to write the best part of 5000 words in my last two blogs on Newcastle without barely touching on the defining feature that identifies and is the reason of the city. The River Tyne flows through the city. It was once the lifeblood and to some extent remains so. In yesteryear, both banks would have teamed with industry. In the city area, it is pretty much all gone and for many years the area by the water lay dormant and neglected. The “new” industry of leisure and entertainment has now spawned a revival and the last 25 years ago has seen a revolution in land use. Four good looking lads, one fell at the first hurdle, one fell at the last and the two big lads smashed it past the finishing line. Quite easily, one of the worst tasting burgers I have ever had. It tasted like a 5 year old tinned hot dog that had just been shit on by a big fat lad who has been constipated for the past 3 months. Every mouthful went down with a pint of water. Mike Watkins failed as soon as he seen the plate. Artemis Shamari stormed through with promise, but then hit the wall. Myself and Jamie Webb looked like failing, but after 10 minutes rest and nearly vomiting a few times, we forced it down. Was the pain worthwhile? A coworker of Mark's was able to get a few free tickets to the Premier of Mama Mia. We were told the going theme was "dress to impress" or "70's". We decided to have some fun and dress up for the night- little black dress! We dolled ourselves up and headed out. It was great- red carpet entrance, some free popcorn, and a great movie. Of course this is Kaitlyn typing. Mark had a few issues with the James Bond idol gone wrong. :P You have to see the movie to know what we mean! ... read more
