Edit Blog Post
Well its finally time to leave this dark cold place that we have called home for the last 2 years. Whilst we are looking forward to our upcoming travels, getting away from this weather, and heading back to Oz, we are experiencing a feeling of sadness and loss. There is pleanty we will miss here. Life over the past 2 years has been like a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book. But alas, it is time to turn the page and start the next chapter.
We will be touching down in Brisbane on Wednesday the 18th April after 5 1/2 weeks of travelling through India, Nepal and Thailand. Naturally there will be a blog to follow these, but hopefully we can tell some of you about our travels in person for a change!
During our time in London we have made some great friends, had some wonderful times and picked up some awful Pommy slang. We have also picked up many useful terms, phrases, facts, habbits, and have found ourselves doing some strange things. Here are just a few.......
*We have learnt to live from one Easyjet airline sale to the next.
*We haved developed a
Ice Skating at Somerset House
Lynanne, Amy, Brooke Rach and Megan new glossary of terms:
Pants = Undies (what you really want to say is trousers)
Football = Soccer (Rugby is just called Rugby)
Thongs = G-string (flip flops are the footwear)
Canteloupe = Rockmelon
Courgette = Zuccini
Chavs/Pikies = Westies
Crisps = Chips (chips refer to hot chips)
Dossing = Sleeping on a mates floor/couch
Duvet = Doona
Pudding = Dessert (pudding isnt a type of dessert but a generic name for ALL desserts).
We come accross new language barriers everyday, anyone would think we were speaking a different language.
*We are now experts at taking self portraits.
*Instead of buying new season swimmers, you buy a new seasons jacket.
*Never before have we had our nasal hair freeze (-20 degrees celcius)
Our Fairytale Christmas in Courchevel 1850 *Whatever the symptoms of Vitamin D deficiency are - we have them!
*Instead of picking up your keys, sunnies, mobile and wallet on the way out, we grab our Oyster card, umbrella, gloves, coat, scarf, keys, mobile and wallet.
*We will forever stand on the right hand side of an escalator.
*Its very acceptable to have a mid week night out, apparently Wednesday
is the new Friday!? These Poms have turned us into binge drinkers (AXA colleagues - you know who you are!)
*We can comment on having tomato puree up your nose and in your ears (let alone anywhere else!)
Spain and La Tomatina *We have cooked every meal for the last 2 years out of a wok.....yes, it is possible!
*Fish and chips are eaten every Friday and roasts on Sunday.
*You start to see why they are so scared of bugs, insects and reptiles......they dont have ANY!
*Who would have guessed you can cook and serve potatoes 101 different ways
But we
have missed home, especially - Lamingtons, Bundy Rum, UV Rays, BBQ's, wearing sunnies, verandah's, the beach.......oh and family and friends. 😊
We have had Stacy and Erin staying with us for the last 3 weeks which has reminded us of when we first arrived. It has been great to spend some time with them.......and also great because they have been cooking, washing and looking after us!! Thanks guys, we will miss you. We will now be the ones receiving blogs from them about their latest travels!
We
have attached some photos of what we have been up to in our last few week around London, including our farewell drinks. We have also attached some random photos from a few countries we had the opportunity to visit during our 2 years here.
Lots of love to you all and we'll see you back in Oz soon!!!
