Euro tunnel
This is how you park a bike on a train when you go underground to and from England. Before I start this section I have a few disclaimers: first I love England, I don’t know why but I do and visiting there was like my whole bucket list getting scratched off because I love that place. Second: The whole time I was in London I had a lot of beer, like a lot so it’s getting more and more blurry as I try to recount what exactly happened those 8 days. So the next week’s days may be just jammed into like 3 posts due to my bad memory, maybe someday I’ll return to England and it will jolt something but there was a lot of beer that week.
The day started well, it was cloudy but no signs of rain and that’s all that matters sometimes. I did a combination of motorways and off roads because I had a train to catch. The views were pretty good nothing really specular but nice nonetheless. I was using the gps but I wasn’t really sure of the point I programed and I found out the old fashioned way that I put the wrong point in the thing when I saw a sign that looked something like what I thought I might be looking for, as I rode past it… so good ol’ u turn and I was back on track, got checked in passport stamped, (this was my first and only stamp I have in my passport as of today), and got in the queue for loading the train. I had no idea how this all worked I just followed the instructions of the people loading the train. I sat off to the side for a bit while they loaded cars and then it was my turn to just ride the bike onto the train. It was cool because my exhaust is loud and it echoed through the whole train making all kinds of noise, good times. So I parked sideways on the car and just sat by my bike for the 45 min train ride. I got bored after like 10 min so I pulled out a rag and started polishing my bike and that took the rest of the ride to finish so I was happy, time passed and the bike was shiny again. Getting off was pretty cool but I was more concerned with the whole riding on the wrong side of the road thing. But it was simple you just follow the road and next thing you know you're on the motorway riding like a normal person. Oh man was I getting a headache from riding like that, seriously oncoming traffic on my right? What is going on? AHHHHH! I had my GPS set for the hotel in Wembley and somehow made it there without incident but it was interesting because I totally rode on the right side of the road a few times on small streets until oncoming traffic made me realize I was on the wrong side. It was mid-afternoon when I got all checked in to my hotel so naturally I headed to the nearest pub and got myself a pint of Guinness and started talking up the locals. I played some darts and pool and found out that some Brits love the American accent as much as I love the British accent which is awesome. I just stayed in that pub all afternoon and next thing I know they are closing so I just make my way back to the hotel so I can begin my tour of London tomorrow.
