A British day out on the Beach...
Published: August 16th 2008Europe » United Kingdom » England » East Sussex » BexhillFriday 1st August Well, what can you say... after a restful morning, we (Mary, Chris, Tim & I) do what all good Brits do, ignore the weather, and head for the beach. To be fair, it was a sunny day, but we didn't check out the wind levels! Mary had bought us lunch... so we headed for Camber Sands. Soon hired a wind-break, Tim took charge of putting it up whilst Chris just hid under his hoodie and Mary & I held up bits of the wind-break and tested the windiness of where we were. Proved why I've been hired as an Oak Hall leader by having the genius idea of putting the windbreak on the first patch of 'damp' sand - it doesn't blow around as much. the furthest i currently know i'll be going this year - somerset! so goes the plan anyway - if we can get hold of glastonbury tickets! fingers crossed. so as looking forward's not the most exciting view (unless i win a holiday or something) - let's look back... - most recent holiday - 3 weeks in india, visiting the northern top tourist spots - agra, jaipur, delhi, tigers, elephants... best beach holiday - australia, spent 2 months heading down the eastern coast with my best friend jen while gap-year travelling best experience - peru, working in an orphanage (also with jen, also on gap year...) the kids were absolutely amazing, i still miss them! best festival - glastonbury 2004, despite the rain and flooding - great entertainment, brilliant atmosphere, and met my boyfriend dan as an ... read more
Goodbye Scotland.......Hello Civilisation

Those mad Scots did everything they could to deter us from returning South but as with all previous battles with 'em.....the English were victorious in the end. Firstly, we had barely left Dingwall when the road diversions started and they tried to lose us on the narrow twisting country roads. Secondly, they tried to sap our energy by not providing any service stations anywhere on route and finally, some thieving lowlander knicked all the signs for the A1 once we got across the Forth Bridge. Anyway, the important thing is we made it back to the real world and can now enjoy a bowl of soup that doesn't cost £5.50 (restaurant in Ullapool), petrol that doesn't cost £1.05 per litre ... read more
