The luggage arrived, along with a £268 taxi account that you know who does not have to pay. Lucky girl Sarah for a while I was ready to sell you into the white slave trade. Then it’s hang out wet socks and jocks that have been zipped up in the case for the last 2 days. Not a pretty sight or smell. So as much wet and damp clothing as possible has been hung out to air and dry and apart from looking like a Chinese laundry all is fine and dandy again. The local bus to Totnes cost about £6, where is the Cornwall all day bus pass for £5 when you need it? It it got us there and back. Totnes Castle was closed for some obscure reason, not due to the death of ... read more

Look away if you have read 1984.
Totnes Castle. With flag flying proudly. Is that anti royalist sentiment tantamount to treason?

Too short a time to walk to Mt St Michael, too long a time to do nothing. It’s moving day here but it’s waiting time now. Just less than an hour until our train to Ivybridge departs so it’s typing time. Ivybridge will by necessity be washing and drying time. I probably had 6 or 7 pairs of socks in various degrees of unwasheredness and undriedness. Fortunately we are at the accommodation for 2 nights, tomorrow being a planned rest day. As such we should be able to make some arrangements to clean and dry things. Our boots particularly are wet, mine wet from the inside more so than the outside. I must get into the habit of wearing or at least taking my serious gaters. It’s water either from rain or undergrowth but it runs ... read more

There is also a large Motorhome sales place to the west of the village. Not tempted to exchange Pic (yet). Back towards Murvi there is a largish Tesco to fritter away the hours. When we were thinking about lunch, we had the call to pick up the van. They had found a sticking solenoid and had added silicone sealent to the wastes. On to Totnes The site at Totnes (Steamer Quay Caravan Club) was all it was reported to be. Very convenient for Totnes town and very very convenient for the boats from Dartmouth. All pitches are grass with no electricity, but there is ... read more

Taking Delivery Left Ashchurch for Tewkesbury just after 07:00 for the trip down to pick up our new Murvi Piccolo. Changes at Cheltenham and Exeter (for a second breakfast). Made sure of a seat on the left hand side to view the Exe and the sea. Brought back memories of childhood holidays in Devon and Cornwall and happy university days in Exeter. The van is a lot more complex than our much loved Vito Duo, it is also wider, longer and (most noticeably) taller. Went through the systems in a steady way. Found damage to the loo door and discovered the water pump had been disconnected. Filled her up with diesel then set off up the A38 and M5. Very smooth trip, getting used to the more restricted rear view and compensating rear view camera. Looks ... read more
