Just had first pub meal. Was interesting. I asked for a water to drink... and I got this bottle that I would have called an alcohol bottle... So I asked him again, because it freaked me out a bit. (It was water. I kept it. I'm going to take a picture of it and send it to my mother as evidence of my hard drinking (she'll know it's a joke)) The girl that went a few people after me asked for a water and got tap water in a glass. I don't understand. :p Had decent food (OK chicken, unidentifiable green things, and Really Good chips (fries)). Reek like smoke. Should probably get used to this. Got pounds. Quick one! I'm in the UK! It's a bit strange so far (as expected). I had a letter waiting for me when I got here, proving once again how awesome t is. It had a little map of Cambridge pointing out where all the fast food is. :p (I was also officially the first person to get mail!) I'm supposed to be out "exploring" - am very pooped though. Pub dinner tonight, then early collapsing. Then a /walking tour/ tomorrow. Then London on Friday! Weirdest thing so far: the light switches are upside down to me! DOwn is on! Everything is small and old... reminds me a lot of "historic" US cities. I can't use this fricking keyboard (not my computer yet - no plug-in-ability) - some of the keys are in the wrong places... so i finally made it to cambridge! i got to OHare a little after 1, the whole group was there by 3, plane took off at 6, and then about 7-8 hrs later, we land in london... 2 hr bus ride to cambridge, unpack, lunch, more unpacking, group dinner, and here we are at 7pm local time (1pm in valpo, 2pm in raleigh)... i've gotten like 4 hrs of sleep in the last 28 hrs. tomorrow we get a tour of cambridge & meet our professors, and then fri/sat/sun in london to do as we please, so i'll post again after that. nite.... read more

Kristen and I unwound in Cambridge with my family for a while and went to see some tennis at Wimbledon. We had some great times in London with my family and chilled in Cambridge and had a lovely time. After a few weeks Kristen went back to Arizona to prepare for moving to Colorado and spend time with her family and I spent the rest of my "year off" making the most of the free time: I spent a week in Ibiza which was beautiful - seeing the sunset at Caf・ Del Mar and mountain biking around the quiet parts of the little Island. I even got to see DJ Tiesto at Amnesia which was pretty amazing. I did find the holiday makers there a little unfriendly compared to the travelers I have gotten used to ... read more
