Sagrada FamiliaSagrada FamiliaSagrada Familia

The church is still under construction after 120 years!
We are finally back to the hotel! What a day!

With an early rise, we had a quick breakfast, then are on the bus for a city tour. We saw Sagrada Familia (the never-ending building church), the Cathedral (can't remember the name), Gaudi buildings, etc. The tour ends at La Ramblas. La Ramblas is the main shopping / eating street of Barcelona.

I launch straight into shopping. I bought a jacket and top in the first 2 shops. We take a break for lunch at Pan & Company (I think that's what it's called). We ordered 2 Funburgers! They are yummy! I guess it's Spain's version of Maccas. Next we souvenir shop down La Ramblas. Souvenirs are heaps cheaper here than anywhere else we've been in Europe. Actually most things are! We then walked to the waterfront, took some photos, and gave our feet a bit of a rest. Not much rest...coz we're back to shopping! We stop by Zara and I buy a dress. I've decided it's my Spring Fashions on the Field dress! Clothes are great here! They are in line with fashion on the catwalk right now. Best part is there is so much choice! And

Some shopping buddies I picked up in Spain
even better, reasonably priced. Clothes are either the same price as home or cheaper! Shoes are the cheapest! Haven't bought any yet though...maybe Madrid 😊

We decide to head back to the hotel at about 6pm. We're instructed to take the Metro (train) back to the hotel. It's 4 stations from La Ramblas. The ticket costs 1.20 Euros and is so efficient! There is a train every couple of minutes.

We dump our shopping at the hotel then are off to the shopping centre across the road (Glories). I end up buying another top from Zara as well as some jewellery from H&M. Todd is tired of me shopping (hehehe) so we buy some groceries from Carrefour (biggest grocery store I've ever seen!). Groceries are amazingly cheap here! 2L of water is 35 Euro cents. Buying a 600ml bottle from a vending machine costs about 2 Euros! We also get a small loaf of bread for our lunch tomorrow...peanut butter sandwiches.

After grocery shopping, we had dinner at the chinese place across the road. We got good reviews from Tammy & Con and so try it out. We both kinda miss rice! We bump into Tammy & Con there so have dinner with them. Only a short one as we have an optional tour at 9pm.

Our optional tour was called "Dancing Fountains". Basically it's a massive fountain show with lights and music. Thousands of people were there. The free show is from 9.30-10.10pm. It was better than anything we expected. It's like the fountain show at the Bellagio in Las Vegas but BIGGER! It's a great atmosphere...lots of tourists, families, and locals enjoying the show and beautiful night.

Tomorrow we're leaving Barcelona for Madrid. We have a very long drive ahead of us. About 600kms+ I think. Our plan tonight is to stay up as long as we can so we can sleep on the bus tomorrow.

I feel a bit sad leaving Barcelona. I have really enjoyed our stay. It's my favourite place so far. People are friendly, it's clean, shopping is great, food is cheap, streets are wide and open, the weather is not too hot or cold, and you just have a nice feeling being here.
