Ibiza and Formentera

Hi! I asked Martin to write about the trip and here it is:

Mallorca - Ibiza, Formantera. 2007.07.14 - 21

FIRST DAY

Here we go! The most exiting thing is that you don't
know what awaits you. Perfectly describes the
adventure on boat.

Meeting our participants, I understood that we will
have some family holidays. Calm, relaxing!

There we where, just left port of Palma and heading to
south in deep blue Mediterranean. Enjoying first
emotions of waving in waves with excitement,
especially our younger travelers. Sails where set out
in full wind and the force draw as away in sea.

A little bit of lyrics never spoil. So..

Wind was pretty strong and waves high. Black dark soon
took us over. Our 14 meters catamaran started a nice
swing. Our crew started to feel something strange in
their stomachs. A little mission to keep it all inside
till morning. Greetings, this is sea life! Even our
experienced members had this romantic start. In
addition listening Florian, the skipper, telling your
life can finish today if you fell out in the dark.
It's really true! Its that easy!

We were planing to arrive in Ibiza by the morning.
There we were after exiting amusement night. Ibiza in
sunrise...

NEXT DAYS

Some little panic in releasing anchor first and
breakfast made this day in Ibiza started.

We headed along Ibizas western coast to Formantera.
Still using that strong wind in sails witch brought us
here in Ibiza.

Our leisure journey brought us in many beautiful bays
next days.

I always dreamed of warm sea evening on boat in
gorgeous paradise beach. Now was perfect time to enjoy
it. Well, I didn't dream of 1500 tourists who were also
there. For me the Formanteras beach was much brighter
than those tourist thousands and hundreds yachts
everywhere around islands. I could say Paradise beach
with beautiful underwater world. To some of us was
pretty hard to get younger travelers out of water.

Did you know that famous Cannibal and they stone
slingers came from one of islands at Ibiza coast.
Well, I can't say island is for living as there is
only rocks and sand.

Traveling around Ibiza you definitely will notice that
it is not wild side anymore. Avery possible place is
made up for travelers with beach bars and comfortable
place with boy for anchoring. Its comfortable till
there is free place for you.

Ah... do we remember man overboard? That was our little
swimmer Alex. Catamaran was turned around and swimmer
saved momentary.It was the scariest moment to Alex.
It's for sure! Little medusa hunter!


IBIZA

Ibiza city was our last checkpoint on this island . The
last day.

Our guide, the Ibiza girl didn't made it to get here
from Barcelona. Stupid exams!

We were here only couple of hours. With no place in
port for us with no wondering we dropped anchor
between a bunch of other yachts.

After a little round tour in old city center we met us
all together at fortress. I didn't know that Ibiza was
famous pirate target and they become pirates themselves
after regular pillages. Even Vikings tried to take over
island.

Ibiza is really a party island. Could never imagine
that comical things like men in latex costumes, crazy
sex maniacs just going to party like every other. Its
just round tour of 30 min thought old town and party
zone. I had seen this only in Thailand. You must read
history to understand why this island end up like
this.

After a diner some of us seemed to a little tired.
Barely keeping awake. You know, this person was our
skipper. The most responsible person on the boat.
Really sorry him, watching him sleeping only couple
hours and taking care of everyone. Florian it's about
you! Hope that in next voyage you will enjoy more. Get
off of your neck some of responsibilities. You have
crew!

End of annual family sailing!

I was a guest and I must admit that I liked it.
Inspire all the traumas I picked up every day!
