Discover Almeria We always wanted to discover and enjoy all the Almeria beaches. That’s why we flew to Almeria this last September. We found a really cheap flight with Ryanair :) The weather was so nice, as Almeria is by the sea and the temperatures are always mild. We were looking to discover all their fabulous beaches. Above all the beaches in the “Cabo de Gata” natural park. Thanks to its conditions of natural park, there are not built too many hotels by the sea. We found many “best Almeria beaches” pages on the internet, so we just followed their instructions :) We rented a motorhome with a local company (Todo Autocaravana), because we read that Almeria is a great place to try it out. Renting a motorhome gave us the freedom to... read more

Motorhome News from Spain II Los Escullos - Almeria - Spain 22nd January - 2nd March 2014 Escape to the Country Mid way through our winter stay in southern Spain we had sensed a touch of boredom in the offing. It’s rather unlike us to stay in one place for more than a few days. We had been in and around Almeria for several weeks, enjoying our regular hikes and absorbed in our endless hobbies on long sunny winter days. It struck us that we were in danger of becoming creatures of habit, so we took off to the north in our motorhome for a few days to explore new territory further up the coast road and inland into the mountains. Over the years we have walked many a long mile along the shore ... read more

Motorhome News from Spain I 19th December 2013 - 21st January 2014 Ruta de los Piratas - The Route of the Pirates Hola Sunshine! Christmas might be coming, but the very thought of another dark and cold British winter is making our feet itch. With dazzling blue skies and wall-to-wall sunshine almost guaranteed, we're beginning to think a couple of months in Spain might be a good idea. En route we'll pay a brief visit to Limoges in France to see daughter Sonia and grandson Frederick, now six and eleven twelfths, for Christmas. We've not done that before. Maybe we should take some mince pies and a Christmas pudding. We all know that Christmas is for kids and that's where the real fun begins, but we're all kids at heart and Janice and I both love ... read more

Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park is a natural park in Andalusia, Spain, near the city of Almería. It is the largest terrestrial-maritime reserve in the European Western Mediterranean Sea, covering 460 km² including the town of Carboneras, the mountain range of Sierra de Cabo de Gata, and 120 km² of the sea as a part of a Marine reserve. It is of volcanic origin and is centred around the Cabo de Gata headland. Its climate is semiarid to the extent of being the driest location in Europe. In 1997 it was designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. In 2001 it was included among the Specially Protected Areas of Mediterranean Importance. In 2010 it was proposed as a dump for nuclear waste. Historically, due to the harsh conditions for agriculture and its isolated location, habitation has been ... read more
