Bed for the night!!! September the 10th by now. We awoke in Miskolc, had breakfast (scrambled egg - soon regretted that) then found out it wasnt free. We missed our train to Kocise in Slovakia by 30mins so had to wait until 3pm. No bother, i decided to send home my massive sleeping bag. So i went to the Hungarian post but they were useless and didnt bother to try and speak english for me. But then some Hungarian guy came up and explained the postoffice was rubbish, that id be lucky to find a box to send my bag in and then spent 20mins of what turned out to be his lunch break from a neary shop to help me translate what i wanted and send my bag home. He even put his own address as from where it was posted from to save time. Maybe i will send Uray a postcard when we finally get to Australia.
Got to Kocise at 5pm. Went to a chosen hostel. It was fully booked. So somehow illegally got a bus back to the centre with help of a local lady. Found the tourist place but it was shut. Wandered looking for hotels but they were all fully booked. In the end we managed to find a cab driver who agreed to drive us around until we found a place. We went to literally EVERY hotel in Kocise and its surroundings. This took hours and cost money. I must have walked in more than 25hotels and by now my Slovak skills are getting good. So plan is. Back to a bar. Stay there until closing, sleep outside, Mcdonalds opens at 6am, get a train to Poland at 11am.
How can all hotels be booked. Id put a question mark there but dont know how to on this keyboard again. We found an Irish bar at about 11pm. They closed at midnight. We managed to hang on until 12,20am. Every minute counts. We all agreed we should stay up all night to avoid getting in trouble. Kocise seems very strict + we could get mugged. As i was up all night i will just copy my journal entries...
Now sitting in the main street in a fountain area. To keep me awake im counting police patrols. So far, 2 cars and 2 on foot. No one has bothered us yet and wont if we are just sitting on a bench. I think if we sleep we will get moved on.
1am - starting to light rain. Might move if it pick ups.
1,30am - TOTAL PATROL = 6 car, 4 on foot. 2 people on nearby benches wander off. Still some music in a bar somewhere. Has stopped raining.
2,15 - bored of counting police patrols but they are getting less. Wasted time playing 20 question where we had to be someone who we had met on the trip so far. Last bars must have shut at 2am as few drunks around now. Raining again, heaviest so far.
2,45 - Rain too heavy, move to shelter but now on private property so patrols wil probably move us on.
3am - heavy rain
3,45 - have been reading up on the history of Albania (did you know they have over 750,000 bunkers), me neither. Dont have any decent reading material.
4am - rain on and off. On at the moment. Patrols havent moved us on and probably dont care about us. Tired now. Nance just ate the last of the salami. We have no other food. Adelle is asleep.
4,02 - i just saw a cat
4,30 - Nancy and Adelle both asleep. I need a wee.
5am - cold. Some guy just delivered morning papers to a shop
5,45 - go and get train tickets for today. Have to wait around for train at 11,55am.
Next up - Krakow, Poland.

Excellent post Pete, a most entertaining read, i particularly like the half hourly updates through the night. Have fun in Krakow, its heaving with bars restaurants and clubs in and around the market square (Rynek Glowny)
