I caught the train from Paris to Amsterdam in the evening, expecting to wake up in Amsterdam the following morning. I had no idea what nightmare was to follow. It turned out that the Dutch railways had gone on strike, so we were all woken up and thrown off the train in Brussels. I know now that Brussels is a beautiful city, but the impression that you are given is that it is full of bureaucrats and politicians. I hence decided to carry on and try to get to Amsterdam. There was a train leaving for the border, so we all pilled on to that and then got thrown off again literally just over the boarder.

After we arrived at the airport there was a delay of about 45 minutes because of crowding. We arrived here about 2:10- took a boat cruise around Amsterdam- shopped- enjoyed the tour very much. Drove on to Rotterdam. Had dinner in the hotel- the Savoy. Oh, we went to a diamond cutter’s place in Amsterdam. Went to a pub with Dianne and Mary Elaine. Daddy was waiting at the hotel until we returned. Dianne Dorsey Parker Gilbreath Place: Amsterdam & Rotterdam, Holland Weather: good day & foggy nite Left London at about 9:30 am. Tr.
