Started the day with a hearty breakfast of yogurt, croissant, coffee and fruit (can't keep that up for too long), and then off to our tour bus. We get on the tour bus at the Vatican, in front of St Peter's. We had bought a 48 hour ticket yesterday and of course we have to make the most of it. Investigated a few of the sites we had driven past before on the first tour, including the Pantheon, inside the National Monument of Victor Emmanuel II and a walk down to the Coliseum.
The day was a bit wet but not enough to get in our way, but Eileen wanted to do a final tour at night. You know how it is - 'we've paid for it so have to make the most of it'. Was feeling a bit cold but we persisted. Katie was the first to fall asleep, then Isabel - and then me!!
Woke up to find Daniel sitting next to a friendly man who was with a group of other women. Turned out they were from Mexico. As I was already zoned out to fast speaking Italians I didn't realise they were speaking Spanish. And
I suppose the last nationality I expected to meet in Rome was Mexican! He spoke English as well so had fun engaging Daniel, who doesn't always give away a lot ;-)
Finally, the last tour of the night ended, dropped of at St Peters, and headed back towards the B&B. Had dinner an a nearby 'ristorante' called 'The Goose'. Nice place, but we were a bit shabby and again had kids wanting to lie down and put heads on tables - but I wouldn't have any of that. We sat right beside another group of elderly folk who gave us some odd glances. Assumed to be Italians, but finally realised they were German so didn't care too much what they thought (sorry Rob).
We all had the best sleep that night, sleeping all the way through. At last.

Rome - Looks cooler than when we sweated it out in July
Thanks for the link, will enjoy following your holiday. We loved Rome, walked pretty much to everywhere. We stayed 50m from the Trivi Fountain. Is there a itinerary? Enjoy your holiday, and driving on the wrong side of the road.....enjoy their strange road signs....you will work them out.
