Today our Greenland tour is over. The last 2 weeks have been fun, adventurous, surprising, vigorous, educational, and wonderful. Our small group of 5 plus our leader Jan started out in really small village, visited the Erik the Red settlement, then went to larger villages, hiked in 70 mph wind, took an alternative boat trip to Quarqatog due to the wind, visited a tannery, got on a ferry to Nuuk, had a rainy day in Nuuk, got on a flight to Ilulisat and this is when things got really awesome. We got on another boat to Eqi Glacier camp where we stayed for 2 nights, then took the boat back to Ilulissat. Zaterdag 31 augustus 2019 vertrekken Willem, Alex en ik voor een vakantie van 3 weken naar IJsland. De voorbereidingen zijn al maanden in volle gang en we hebben plannen voor wel 3 maanden. We gaan een rondreis over heel IJsland maken. We hebben een auto gehuurd en gaan daarmee alle mooie plekjes van IJsland ontdekken. August 11, 2019 – Akureyri, Iceland – Weather: 39°F/4°C, heavy cloud cover all day, passing bands driving rain throughout the day, wind 40.3 mph, humidity 81°; Overnight the wind increased to 45 knots and the waves were running at 7 to 7.5 meters This area has been nicknamed “the Capital of North Iceland” and was originally settled in the 9thcentury and officially recognized as a city in 1562. Today Akureyri is a thriving port town with an economy largely based on its booming fishing industry, though tourism as in other parts of Iceland is slowly overtaking this position. Jetzt folgt Bozis "Königsdisziplin", die Überquerung des Nordatlantik. Das hat er in den letzten 30 Jahren ungefähr 30 mal erfolgreich gemacht, von Cessna, Globe Swift (2x solo!), Mooney usw. bis zu Jetprop und Cheyenne. Und so gehen wir auch dieses Mal diese anspruchsvolle Etappe frohen Mutes an. In unserer Privatunterkunft in Iqaluit schläft noch alles, als wir uns gegen 7 Uhr morgens aus dem Haus schleichen. Ein Taxi bringt uns zum Crew-Gate des Flughafens und kurz vor 8 heben wir schon ab in Richtung Grönland. Das Wetter ist gut und wir werden auch noch von einem leichten Rückenwind unterstützt. Nach nur etwas mehr als 2 Stunden können wir in Kangerlussaq (BGSF, Sondrestrom Fjord) landen. Dieser Flughafen wurde von der US-Airforce im 2.
