So now it's Saturday afternoon. I passed on staying at the National Park because it was as usual raining. The bus ride today took me past one of the nicest places I've seen in Iceland so far. It's a lagoon near the ocean, and there is a glacial tongue at the end of it. As ice breaks off the glacier, it becomes icebergs that float in the lagoon for up to 5 years before finding their way to the ocean. The lagoon is also famous because it was used in the James Bond Goldeneye movie, posing as Siberia. After a 30 minute stop at the I moved on to the village of Vik which has a pretty impressive setting along the ocean with huge cliffs backing the village. Portem tres dies de viatge i costa trobar adjectius per definir tot el que estem veient i sentint. Islàndia és pura màgia. És com visitar diferents paisos (per no dir planetes) en un mateix. Un es sent minúscul enmig de la inmensitat de la naturalesa, pura, incorrompuda de la la illa: volcans, cascades inimaginables, terres àrides, paisatges impossibles, glaciars, icebergs, llacs inabastables, rius....En molts moments del viatge tenim la sensació d'haver arribat a la fi del món. Les pringades, d'altra banda són vàries. A l'episodi conegut per alguns de vosaltres de l'aeroport (vam sortir amb 8 hores de retard), cal afegir altres incidències, com un clima més advers del previst i del descrit a les (males) guies de viatges consultades. Ponoci je dezevalo in pihalo, tako da sem bila malo paranoicna, da nama bo odneslo sotor - izjave prejsnjega vecera v stilu "ni paaanike, staaari, sej za eno noc ni treba tok klinov prbijat!" mi niso bile v pomoc, ampak se je na sreco vse izkazalo bolj kot plod polsna. Zjutraj je bilo vse popolnoma BP. Ker se je kafic odprl sele ob 10h (nisem sicer prepricana, zakaj cakajo toliko casa, ce pa je dan ze od ... ponoci?), sem pobozno prosila eno od rangerk, da mi je v svoji kucici segrela vodo za caj. Bre zelenega caja so jutra povsem drugacna. In tako mi je prijazna gospa pomagala, da je bilo jutro malodane popolno (caj je bil, seveda, bio - prinesen od doma). Hello Everyone, It's been quite some time since I've revisted the travel journal; but I have set off alone for the great land of Iceland and the midnight sun. I've always wanted to visit Iceland, I'm not sure why but for some reason it has always spoken to me. Reykjavik is the northernmost capital in the world and quite possibly the most expensive. The cuntryside is where it's at though; waterfalls, mountains, volcano's, geothermal hot spots, glaciers, the midnight sun, wildlife, lava fields, etc. Day One I arrived in Reykjavik early Friday morning with all intentions of having a nice relaxing day at the Blue Lagoon with my supervisor, Beth. Hola a tod@s otra vez! Después de unos días movidos entre viajecitos, visitas "inesperadas" (lo siento Pelón!) y un poco de faena (que no sienta mal de vez en cuando) me dispongo a explicaros lo que fue nuestro primer viaje "serio" por Islandia. Como siempre, somos unos buenos buitres y siempre en busca de gente de carnet al final conseguimos ir en coche a los sitios. Siempre funciona eh! :) Ya que los islandeses se toman Semana Santa en serio (jueves, viernes y lunes fiesta, sí señor!) pues aprovechamos para alquilar un coche e irnos durante tres días por el sur de Islandia. Realmente un viaje espectacular. Ya comenté en el post del Blue Lagoon que Reykjavik tiene sus cosas pero venir a Islandia y no visitar nada de los alrededores es de LOSERS. Y no ... read more
