Am Samstag bin ich nach der 13. erfolgreichen Woche in Niedersachsen nach Halle gefahren. In der Stadt war ich zuerst 1994 auf der Fahrt von Leipzig nach Magdeburg und später mehrmals beim Umsteigen auf der gleichen Strecke. Wie so oft habe ich prima einen Parkplatz gefunden und bin zuerst an der Universität entlang zum Kunstmuseum Moritzburg. Dabei hat mich die alte Bausubstanz an Ostberlin erinnert. Das Kunstmuseum hatte aber geschlossen aber allzu motiviert war ich eh nicht für einen Besuch gewesen. Dann spazierte ich weiter zum Zentrum und habe in einem alternativ aussehenden Café eine Pause eingelegt. Auch dieses hat mich an Berlin erinnert. Von dort bin ich zum Händel Haus. Dieses habe ich besichtigt. Danach ging ich zu Galeria Kaufhof und hätte dort Lebensmittel gekauft, aber eine solche Abteilung gab es dort nicht. Das ist ... read more

Halle is a city of around 230,000 near the Saale river. The university has part of its campus right in the middle of the city so there is lots of activity and young people around. The church in the middle of the city, Marktkirche, has a very famous association with Martin Luther the founder of the Lutheran church. He died in Halle so a death mask was made of his face and hands and is on display in the church in a side room. Each church has a magnificent pipe organ and yesterday we were able to listen to the organist practising for a while.
