Well hellooooooooooo there!!!!
I thought that since I have the use of the laptop at the mo, I would finally tell ya'll about the Germany trip....I know I know its only taken me 10000 years LOLZ!!!! Well lets see what my brain can remember.....
Well after sleeping for two nights in Orly airport in France(we mixed our dates up)....we finally made it to Germany.....Seriously we were all so tired that all we could think about was the loud speaker at Orly airport. Every 5 seconds all we could hear was, 'please do not leave your luggage unattended, otherwise it will be SYSTEMATICALLY DESTROYED'....Seriously it was sending us around the twist....Even to this day I still have nightmares....I dream of voices saying 'Tina Newsome you will be SYSTEMATICALLY DESTROYED'!!!!!
So yup lolz!!! Anyways Berlin....yeah there was an army tank sitting outside the airport, and army boys walking around with big guns.....Although I don't know why because it was a tiny airport!!
So yup we managed to find a hostel pretty easy....only 10 euros a night, not too bad!! Hostel was a wee bit dodgy...but hey it was a bed so I didn't care! So after getting settled we decided to
Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
Check it out bed on a roof!!! Erfurt Germany LOLZ!!! head out to a nazi concentration camp called Sachsenhausen. All I can say is that this was an eye opener....When you see the conditions that the jewish were made to live in and to think that 100000 were killed in this camp alone. I just wonder how one man could create such evil!!! Needless to say it bought us all to tears. I had spent alot of time learning about Hitler at school, but this just bought it all home for me....I don't know if you guys remember, but back when I was in DC I also checked out the Jewish Holocaust Museum....So connecting these two for me was just so sad....I will put some pics up soon so you can see what I'm talking about:-(
So on to pleasanter things! So we didn't end up doing much else in Berlin, the next day we decided to catch a train down to Frankfurt. Easy right, well not when it involves Tina, Rangi and Ali LOLZ! We had to catch 3 trains, all in all it was about 9 hrs to frankfurt. Well we got to one station and didn't realise we were supposed to change trains because the itinerary said
Wind Farm
Took this on our mammoth train ride we were only stopping for 2 mins, 'EH WRONG!' we were definitely supposed to get of! So two hours later the train stops and we know that we are definitely not supposed to be in this town!!! So after finding the info desk, we finally find someone else who like everyone else in this town doesn't speak a word of english.....Goodness knows how we managed to get a train to Kassel Wilhelmshohe(which is where we needed to be in the first place). All I know is that we certainly managed to entertain a few people, with our hand gestures and computer screen and map pointing LOLZ!!!!
So after adding another 4 hours to our journey we finally made it to Frankfurt. Once there we decided to have an argument(I just think we were all tired)...Anyways I managed to storm of into the Red Light District of Frankfurt, which ended up with me telling this guy in no uncertain terms to GET LOST(the words I used were alot more colourful, but not printable on here LOZ!).....So yes we all made up and decided to sleep at Frankfurt train station for the night....I think we made it till 4am and then decided
Random Town
One of the many stops on our train ride to head out to the airport.....LOLZ!!! I just rolled out my sleeping bag right next to the police station at the airport, the other two did ask me what the hell I was doing....But i was tired and didn't want to cause anymore trouble than I already had LOLZ!!!! Anyways the next day, we go looking for our flight on Ryanair....after looking for ages we couldn't find Ryanair....So we went to the info desk to ask where to go....the lady then politely tells us that ryanair doesn't fly from this airport...But we were like 'thats impossible because we are booked to fly out of frankfurt airport with ryanair'! So she's like 'oh you need Frankfurt Town Airport', so we were like ok cool you know its only gotta be about 10 mins away, thinking it was like Aucklands domestic airport. She then informs us that Frankfurt town is 'in an entirely different county' and that the only way to get there is by coach which was 20Euros. So after travelling two hours back up country and spending more on the coach than we had on our flight, we ended up at what looked like a little tin shed in the
Ali
Sleeping on the train middle of hicksville LOLZ!!!!! Trust me we were just happy to be at the right airport!!!! So after making it back to London, we managed to then miss our bus back to Manchester LOLZ!!!!! So nearing 3am we finally made it back to manchester!!!! LOLZ!!!! All I can say is 'WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!' But afterall that I did enjoy germany and would love to go back, there's loads more I want to see.....
